I think we're in agreement on a few of the points you've made. I understand what you are getting at but it was more this part of your original point that I didn't agree with:
"Yes - West Ham were worse for much of that time but now they're above Everton"
I took that to mean that they've now surpassed us after half a good season.
West Ham have been a nothing club for years. They may or may not finish above us this season and squad wise I think ours is far better. We are bringing quality youth players through and have consistently finished in the top 8 in the past 10 seasons, which they haven't even managed once. I don't see us suddenly behind them.
The Stadium and their future is a valid point, but the same could be said for them in comparison to Liverpool, but I doubt anyone would accept that West Ham is a step up to going there either. In a few seasons I do think they will be the new media favorite though, especially if they get taken over.
It's pretty clear that the two main reasons he joined them was due to being first choice and his family connection to West Ham. Don't have a problem with it.
