Who's bigger, Everton or Newcastle?

They've only taken the smaller allocation at Goodison over the last few seasons.

To be fair to them, they've played us midweek a few times which is why. They would sell out the 3,000 on a weekend game, like we would up there. Although in our poorer league seasons we still took 2,000 up there (like this season without an away win for about 10 months), whereas they brought 900 one time and about 1,500 the next.

..this is a happy birthday thread. Happy birthday.

, I have seen this happy birthday reply from you " once or twice " , is this a happy birthday to the O/P , a hidden coded message , or like the rest of us based on our lovely team - you have lost your marbles

..I like to contribute to each thread, so when I don’t think there’s much to say I just pop that response in.

When they start blowing £30-£45mill all over the gaff on bang average overhyped trash with potential to fill their squad they'll be as big as us, until then they can pipe rar down.

We didn't to be honest...34,027 was the attendance that night.

The thing with City is that they seemed to have better fans when they were up against it and weren't successful as they had a hardcore of 30K that would be there pretty much no matter what. They struggle these days with early kick offs and night games, despite their new found success, because they have never gained the support around the country from being successful over their whole history. So whilst their cross-city rivals can fill their stadium with out of town daytrippers, City haven't built up that kind of support yet. Their attendance for the Semi Final against us was pathetic because of how good they are now.

That is the difference with us and them, because there wouldn't be an empty seat in sight in any game home or away if we had achieved what they had in the last 5-10 years.

Re the Geordies, they have their 52K Stadium which is slowly moving down the rankings in terms of biggest Stadiums in the Country. That is all they have to cling on to and if/when we move in a few years they will have literally nothing to claim they are bigger than Everton for. Other than Stadium size and crowds due to their favourable circumstances they don't come close to us in any aspect.
I'm sure we sold out, however some people may have bought tickets for the credit, just in the case we got to the final and not turned up. Really surprised it was that low considering we rarely do well in the league cup. I think a lot of City fans, who can't afford season tickets, probably got priced out. But even for Champions league games, they have got pretty poor attendances, which they can't really make any excuses about. Burnley have a very loyal support for a town of their size, even better considering their fans almost solely come from the White British community in Burnley. The Sheffield clubs have very loyal supporters, despite what they have had to put up with over the years. We take huge away followings abroad, compared to Spurs, I doubt they would taken 1000-1500 to Split, I doubt anyone with the exception of Man United and the RS would fill their allocation. We took 6000 to Chelsea in 2011 they took 2900 to us, despite the fact, both games kicked off at the same time. Some club's have loyal fans, some don't.

Part of that is related to us being in Europe every now and again though whilst other clubs are travelling away in Europe every season so the novelty wears off for them.

Coincidentally though, as this thread is about Newcastle and Everton, i'm sure we took way more than them to Kharkiv. They also had a non-league type following in Greece (Atromitos) where I appreciate they had little time to prepare for the trip and it would have been expensive but some of our supporters would have found a way to make the trip. We'd probably have had a few hundred there whereas Newcastle's following looked less than 100.
