Its still City's title to lose for me. A game in hand and points to spare. Them lot won a game that they should have and its left them in a good position and they are in the groove. It happens. Their brilliant team is only a couple of points clear of a Tottenham team thats barely functioned this season and a couple of points behind a team full of superstars that hasnt hit top gear yet. Our top 4 ambitions took a bit of knock tonight, but its hardly unexpected. Just got to keep going till the end and hopefully with a fully fit squad on form.

yes, Spurs have largely been dreadful this season. Even their supporters cannot quite reconcile how they are on 50 points

They've drawn very few games I'd imagine. Scrapping wins has added up and now they look a bit more useful (but not that much) they've stumbled upon a good position. They are hardly a deserving fifth, but it pays to win or lose, rather than win a bit, draw a lot and lose bugger all. League table isnt always a reflection of merit, sadly.

Even down to fact that we are having a, still, really good season, only points to the fact that by some unwritten laws, theirs HAS to be better.....

Sorry mate, have to disagree. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.

They have made lots of mistakes, Toure alone has gifted two goals in that last couple of games, but they have been able to score enough to overcome it.

We have generally been much stronger defensively but silly errors have cost us and we have not scored the goals at the other end to cancel them out.

There is an element of luck in every game - you just have to be good enough to overcome the bad luck when it comes your way and ride the good luck when that arrives too.

Scoring goals is what it is about and the top 4 teams have a GD that reflects that. When Lukaku was interested, we should have dispensed with 10 or so mid field tiki-taka and put through balls for him to run onto ...but we don't play that way, our strikers get uninterested and we find ourselves in a goal scoring-less vicious circle. Need to change this QUICKLY

On some similar thread ('the remaining 14 games'), someone pointed out Arsenal's unrelentingly difficult run of games coming up. Think that they are going to struggle to stay 4th.

I suspect the North London rivalry is going to get VERY intense/bitter over the next few weeks as Spurs (remarkably) continue to push for fourth....and it isn't Liverpool who is most vulnerable, it's Arsenal

I said if we didn't spend a decent amount of money in January it would kill our momentum. The circumstances were just too similar to last year and there for all to see.

I think we can put together a decent run of form over the next few months but it won't be enough for 4th. Staying ahead of United is where I see our priorities now.

I honestly think:

1. Liverpool
2. Chelsea
3. City
4. Arsenal
5. Spurs
6. Everton
7. United

I hate myself for thinking it, and if it comes true i want to go to mars for a few years, but they're a machine right now. Games like last night can be looked at two ways, jammy and scraped a win past bottom, or avoided a banana skin and got 3 points.

Unless someone hacks suarez/sturridge the kopites won't stop. Chelsea are wobbling, city aren't scoring. Scary times ahead!

I still think we can catch Arsenal. After Chelsea we've got a run of very very winnable games, they've got a torrid run.

11 points behind with a game in hand and they've got to come to our place. If we can narrow the gap to 5 points by the time they come to Goodison it's still possible.

Spurs are on a great run, it's going to be hard but not impossible.

Whether Liverpool can win the title all depends on their away form. They can beat teams by as many goals at home if they want but away they were twice behind last night and last week drew against West Brom. Can they do it........yes, will they, no. They are not the best team in the league by a long shot, same way as blackpool werent very good when they were promoted. A good run of games makes a massive difference so there is always that chance they could.

Man city and Chelsea are in a different league at the minute though in my opinion. The only thing holding Chelsea back is Mourihno dampening expectations and getting to grips still with a new squad and new tactics in comparison to Madrid. City are picking up injuries and in comparison, would the kopites be riding high in the league if Suarez was injured in the same vain as Aguero has been?

The worst thing is that could have been us up there. A slightly bigger squad, or even having Gibson and Kone fit would have made a massive difference in the team and would have allowed our midfield to rest and could have provided a difference against spurs. We probably still have lost the derby but against West Brom, Spurs, Sunderland to name a few we could have made a difference. That would have put us 8 points better off and level with them lot.

Ifs and Buts but i do believe it is crushing to see only ourselves holding our potential back. All through a lack of willingness to spend and/or 3 season ending injuries in one year.

I hate saying it, and now I live in Yorkshire I could cope with it more, but I can see the RS winning the league. They remind me of Man Utd a few times when they won the league and couldn't defend. Concede a silly goal (or 2 last night) brush it off, go up the other end and score. 1 things for sure, they will never get a better chance. No Europe to play in, City inexplicably not signing a centre half in January, Chelsea inexplicably not signing a striker in January, Man Utd in crisis. None of those will be the case next season and they will be in Europe and scrapping for 4th with Arsenal, Spurs and hopefully us. City still have to play the RS away, Arsenal away, Everton away, Man Utd away. Chelsea have the easiest fixtures, if they can beat us at home and get a drawer at Anfield they are in pole position.

I don't like the fact that people are writing Liverpool off so easily.

They are the form team of the top 6 and don't look like letting up.

I am genuinely frightened that they will come close... And I hate myself for it.
