Arshavin for 8M ???

And there are those of us who want to cash in Faddy for less than 5M ???

Time to have a rethink cause there's no way that computes. Either Faddy is way undervalued or Arshavin is way overvalued.

I mean come on....

I guess its all relative Bill, young British players always come with a premium, i suppose because when you a foreginer you dont know how they will settle or adapt, and may hae communication difficulties. I think to clubs outside the premeirship specificaly foregin clubs dont have access to bundles of TV revnue cash! Im not sure about this but i can think of any Russian domestic player who cost 8million before, i wonder would that be a russian domestic record!

I suppose a good example would be:

Francis Jeffers sold for: 7.5mill (Young British)
Mikel Arteta signed for 2.5mill (foreign)

What did Tottenham buy Berbatov for? I Remember some other lousy expensive buys from Ukraine and Belarus as well...

Fener suspend Appiah contract
Turkish giants Fenerbahce have frozen the contract of Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah because of concerns over his fitness.

The 27-year-old, an eight million euro signing from Juventus in 2005, is suffering from a blood clot in his knee which the club's doctors believe will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Due to the extent of the injury Fenerbahce have suspended Appiah's wages and the Turkish Football Association have accepted the club's decision.

Former Turkish national team doctor Mehmet Kurdog, who diagnosed Appiah's condition, said: "Treatment will immediately begin to dilute his blood.

"This will last for six months and during this period he shouldn't risk any contact that could cause bleeding to any part of his body.

"It is risky for him to head the ball as even this could cause a cerebral haemorrhage. There is a 95% chance that he will recover after the treatment and only a 5% chance of a recurrence of the problem. At the moment he can only do light training."

Appiah, who will also miss Ghana's African Nations Cup campaign in his home country, has only made six Super Lig appearances this season after undergoing knee ligament surgery in the summer.

I found this interesting seeing as though we've been continuously linked with him. I can't say I've heard of players getting a blood clot, at least not too often. I think Fener have set a good example by suspending his contract though, they're not going to get anything out of him so they might as well protect their finances, shame we couldn't do that with Shandy Can Der Meyte

Christ, that is terrible news. I think this will permanantly rule us out. Moyes has been bitten by the injured player bug twice now. I certainly don't think he will risk something of this magnitude!

I feel terrible for Appiah though, medical insurance should be kicking in for that!
