Which will come first

Well we already invest in the squad, just not a great deal compared to other teams. I think if there was NO investment then Moyes would go. But I think he demands at least some from the board and gets enough to keep him happy, and I think they'll carry on managing that. I think what happens with the stadium will be key really. If it ends up draining transfer budgets or not, and whether it ends up providing more revenue for transfers.

the clubs own figures give you the lead there - if moyes is hanging on for that cash, he's very much waiting in vain.

Just really concerned, especially with all this Celtic/Manure talk

Forget Celtic, forget United. Were in the FA Cup final, were on our way back! Moyes is going nowhere and investment will come eventually. Try enjoy being an blue (y)

I have to agree with Cena. There is much too much negativity around recently. We have reached the F.A cup final, have had another solid top 6 finish in the league. We are securing players on long term deals, we are securing a lot of young talent from the uk and around Europe.
We are a far more attractive proposition to potential investors now than we have been for many many years. The investment will come, i have no doubt of that. I also know Moyes is no quitter, he will not leave for any club for the foreseeable future.

Well said mate. I agree with almost everything what you said but do worry myself regarding where investment will come from. Still, that is then and not now. Destiny is in our own hands for the push for 5th and the Cup Final next weekend is the cherry on the cake for what has been a superb season particularly after the start we had and the injuries we have endured. Lets enjoy the next week and see what Mr Genious Moyes can do in the summer, he aint going anywhere.

Non of those top 4 teams are interested in Moyes and wont be for a while. He's a grafter while Chelsea, Arsenal etc would all like a manager with a proven champions league experience. United...I dont know, but I feel that the only connection that Moyes and fergie have is that they're scottish and control a dressing room. Would their fans want a manager who hasnt won anything in the position they are now? Dunno.

Celtic would be a step down in terms of standard of football and overall exposure IMO. And all that was drummed up after the Inside Sport interview when he said he'dlike to go back to scotland at some point anyway.

As for investment...something will happen next November/December, after the stadium result.

Going off topic a little. Will we be worth any less if Kirkby doesn't go ahead? In terms of selling to an investor, surely a club that isn't moving to a new ground would be worth less?

blimey, i can only imagine what the threads on here would be like if we'd had a bad season. enjoy yourself, have a lovely cornetto or something.

Something has to give on the investment front very soon. It seems an age away at the moment, but this Autumn will be the start of something...probably the begining of the end for Kenwright if it's his second stadium failure and the 'facility led' strategy is in tatters. The pressure on the current board will be overwhelming.

Not sure if it will be the end, but the pressure will build. Bill either finds £78m (and the rest I bet) for Kirkby, or presents a coherent strategy for plan B after Kirkby dies. It'll be tough.

My guess is that we'll end up going down that impossible (sic) road and will start to plan for a redevelopment of lovely Goodison. It's the only option I can see is possible.

And I'm just quietly fuming here that the supporters were told that Kirkby was effectively free and the deal of the sodding century. That's why people voted for it. It's old ground I know. So I won't labour the point any further.

Due to this stadium saga, I think for the past two years the current major shareholders will have blocked investment. Without going into the various models of investment, it doesn't make sense to me (or anybody else for that matter, hence BK's insertion of the word 'suitable' in relation to investors) that there's been no firm interest registered for the club. And in narrow financial terms who could blame the board not wanting to dilute the potential value of their shares in the event that Kirkby comes off? Of course the general economic climate has changed, so (post Destination Kirkby decision) we'll just have to see how that's affected our chances of attracting interest. Personally, I doubt the age of takeovers is over.

Regardless of that, if Kirkby is a non-starter, it looks bleak for BK. He's boxed himself into a corner over the new facility-led strategy. His regime has alienated the local state to the extent they wont be playing ball with the club under it's present ownership should DK fall through, and I doubt there's a way back from their own position regarding Goodison - they've rubbished the place, and idea of staying there, so forcefully.
