Where's the pace going to come from???

I'm getting quite worried about the lack of pace in our side. How can we stretch teams with players we have at present.

Mirallas, Lookman, Bolasie when fit but I do agree we're looking awfully slow at the minute.

I hope there is some truth in the rumours about the the young Gray lad from Leicester. Him and Lookman down the flanks will frighten the life out of defenders.

I don't actually think it's a "pace" issue, when you look at the game from last night, we played a massively defensive formation 5-3-2. The only players who go into the final third were; Sandro, Rooney, Klassen and Baines. There were times when Rooney was dropping into the centre circle, to get the ball and when he looked up,no one was making a forward run, there was just Sandro stood in the box, surrounded by 4 defenders.

I think if we are going to stick with this formation we only need 1 holding midfielder, the other two need to get forward

In short, we badly missed Ross Barkley, because that's what he did; knitted play together.

...I think it's as much about tempo in this team. Players tend to receive the ball and dwell on it before passing safely sidewards or backwards. The tempo needs to increase with players taking the ball on the spin and releasing it quickly. Fast footballers are slow footballers if they play on their heels.
