Where would you like to use the big man??

The big man? Well Dunc up top with Jella off him, and Fellaini scaring the bejesus on the overlap. That kind of attacking intent hasnt been seen since Dixie stood in the mirror.

Yeah, has to be in the box-to-box role. Move him around a bit depending on the situation, but we need him to generally own the middle 3rd.

Give him a run in the hole for me, if he can keep up the level of preformences and stats he has in the last 10 games its not even a question for me.

Its a simple game goals and assists win you games, dominating midfield doesnt and its not like we dont have other players who can do it anyway, i actually think it would dick about with a good system at the moving him back.

A lot still to see, teams will work out the ply now and try to counter it, remains to be seen if he can play through that up there.

Anyway its not that new a role for him, he did it a lot in his first season when he scored 10+ up there - he looks better at it now though.

I thought Fellaini looked much stronger when he dropped deeper today after Gibson's substitution. I mean, Gibson is good, but Fellaini is clearly the far superior CM.

He was unlucky with Villa's goal as well; an inferior CM would have shit out and turned his back on the shot, but Fellaini stood tall and faced the shot full on, but unfortunately the shot was of such high quality that we had no chance.

We got worse once Gibson went off. And we just let Villa came back with a goal as our midfield switched off thereafter. Fellaini is clearly a dangerous SS whereas Gibson is the new Lee Carsley.

I wanted Felli to play alongside Gibson, not in place of him.

Actually I wanted that with Fellaini alternating with someone like Osman. We almost kind of got that today.

Nah man, Fellaini is clearly more effective when he drops deeper and is tasked with protecting his defence. Did you not see how committed he was in closing down the Villa player who scored their goal?

Fellaini might be 'OK' playing off the striker, but he is far better than Gibson at CM.

Sure. Gibson and Fellaini should be 1st choice CM. No question about that. Then, Mirallas or Naismith can play SS behind Jelavic.

central or defensive.

jelavic
pienaar mirallas naismith
fellaini gibson

thats what the front 6 should be. if we cant break down teams with this then move him forward and go the hoof then

Yep, because Naismith or Mirallas are guaranteed to be far more effective than Fellaini in the SS position.

I mean, Fellaini is OK in the SS position, but he's no Steven Naismith, is he?

I won't alter CM during a match unless it is absolutely to do so. We did not as dominant as before (the first 70mins) after Gibson went off. When their player was sent off, I expected us to score 1 or 2 more but that was not the case. Like what I said, our midfield switched off a bit in the last 20 mins or so. The distribution of Gibson was vital. Of course, if Fellaini is not played as SS due to tactical reason he should always play CM along with Gibson. Anyway, Everton played very well in the first half today.
