All pre-seasons out the way. It's not clear if there'll be any more significant transfer market action.

One week away from our opening game. Time to get a flavour of where we really think we'll be come May.

Gary Lineker famously tells us pre-season results matter not a jot, but performances certainly do, and we've not seen a lot that's been encouraging. The form of our biggest hopes like Baines and Ross hasn't been great, and a couple of our squad players aren't convincing right now that they can help us at Prem-level.

Saying that, our Belgian superheroes, plus Seamus, haven't featured. And the Prem will be taken countless times more seriously than fluffy friendlies against nominally-unchallenging teams (Porto apart). In theory, we should be strong enough to maintain our regular best-of-the-rest status, in this case top 7.

Regarding our rivals, it's difficult to judge if they'll really be stronger with the money they've spent. I think the top 7 will remain the Big 7 of Man U/City, Arse, Chelsk, Spuds, RS and us.

I can feel another 5th coming along (despite the poor-looking pre-season games), this time ahead of RS & Spuds.

Where yous reckon we'll finish?

Clearly given the fact our manager suddenly knows f all in the space of a month...I'm going for 20th with a record low of points. Swindon who?

I have said all summer, we are more likely to get CL by winning the EL than through the league. Mainly because it is easier.

Dunno.

Not sure where we'll finish but I reckon we'll be in with a shout at CL. Our season will still mean something in May.

I hope we're still in the race come May, but on the other hand we may settle for 7th if we're in with a shout of winning Europa.
