How could we have done this sooner?

Quite easy, pinpoint your transfer targets then do everything in your power to secure a deal before anyone else gets involved. It is common knowledge that Everton piss into the wind when it comes to transfers. We have been like that for years and we continue to falter when it comes to bringing in new faces.

I fear he will crash and burn at Spurs. Gareth Bale is a prime example, was one of the hottest young stars a couple of years ago. But if Spurs stump up an extra £2m money talks. Also they will possibly offer him higher wages.

Yes, I'm sure Sheff Utd and the player would have gone along with that.

Naughton's about to make the biggest decision of his career. If he would be wiling to make that decision without even being allowed to find out which other clubs were interested, then he's an idiot. Luckily, he agent won't be that dumb.

These transfer sagas go on at every single club in the league/the world. You might as well say "why didn't Spurs wrap up the transfer for Naughton a month ago, before Everton were interested, so they didn't have to get involved in an auction?"

And, of course, you are ignoring all the transfers where we just signed the player with little trouble. Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Cahill, Beattie, Johnson - all signed with no protracted negotiations. With Arteta, there were delayed negotiations, during which we negotiated the price down.

Not one club in the country have the problems in bringing in players like we do. Kenwright and co need to sell the club to Moyes' transfer targets and if another club betters our offer, then they should fight fire with fire and make an improved offer. I knew this would become another summer of frustration. We do not appear to be capable of attracting players to the club despite finishing 4th in the last two seasons and we appear unattractive towards potential buyers of the club. Something is clearly wrong.

I think the problem is that we over achieve each season. People know this and they are waiting for the bubble to burst, some players dont wanna be around the club when this happens.

Hopefully it wont, im just looking at it from an outside view really.

You're buying into the media spin, mate. Look at our first eleven, and it's as good, or better, than any other team out there in the top half of the league. Moyes has been canny, and built a team by modest means. Look at the way Villa (last 12 months), Spurs (every year) and City (last 2 years) have chucked money at average players. That's where much of their budget goes. They pay way over the odds for players that aren't top 4 quality. Thankfully, Moyes won't (or can't) do that.

Since you are an experience football fans and here a question to you "why do you think we are over achieve each season?" What makes you think this way?

I simply don't think we were lucky, if it were one or two season then it could still be lucky but looks what happen last season we had a bad start which any team are entitle to, same goes with Arsenal or Man Utd, but looks what happen at the end of the season we finish in the Top 6.

You can't be that lucky for season after season, which prove we have enough quality and consistency to finish in the Top 6, if Fulham fail to finish Top 7 next season or the season after, then you could say they were lucky last season.

That's just my opinion, everyone rate the team differently and I am not trying to convince anyone over anything, but simply more annoy how BBC or Sky keep trying to put us down as over achieve each season!

Rep :)

I don't see what the fuss is.

No one from Sheffield Utd has confirmed Spurs supposed double bid.

And no one from Everton has come out to acknowledge their disgust at the whole thing.

It seems the press in Liverpool are running with this story and everyone else are picking up on it and running with it aswell.

Plus their maths make no sense in the latest echo article it says Everton won't ber drawn into increasing their bid of £4 mill extending to £5. Now Spurs have offered £8 mill for both players and they suggest £5 is for the other lad.

That basically means we have the better for Naughtan whatever way you look at it.

So essentially i reckon the Echos stories have been full of made up bullshit

You all missed the point I made in my post.

Do we get silverware for that achievement?

As for the thread I am not going to vote either, personally in the circs I think it is a stupid thread, maybe because I am so furious at Spurs and the deceit of the Blades.
