Where we threw it away

What Tree said. If we'd drawn all those games we would have 'picked up points in 13 games out of 15 against lesser teams'. Hardly a glowing testimony is it? And we should be expecting to to pick up points in all those games as a minimum. From those 13 games we picked up 23 points. Extrapolate that to the number of games we've played and we'd be on 58, 2 pts ahead. So we'd have to do exactly as well against the rest of the league as against the bottom 7 to maintain that pace. 'FFS Moyes'?? To F-ing right!

As regards points we've dropped due to refereeing errors etc, has anyone been on/remember that site that use to produce a league table "how it should be" adjusting for wrong decisions etc?

So this 'what went wrong' thread is not where we are not allowed to say what went wrong then? I put it to you that in all those games we lost valuable points beacuse of the ref. We only needed a couple and we'd be up there.
Those decisions were wrong. There are posts in this thread highlighting the Newcastle game as one we should of won but in the context of we were not good enough.. We hammered them and scored 4 legit goals. I thought that was worth mentioning and put the rest up at the same time.

Also I would have to say expecting to get points from 15 out of 15 games is more of a testement to your expectations of Moyes than him as a manager.

the decisions against us have obviously totally swamped the decisions in our favour. don't see how its 'being a kopite' to just be honest about it. I don't see many blues claiming things went against them when they didn't. why it tends to happen in certain seasons is worth asking, as is whether we can do anything about it or just suck it up

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with you on your first point. I was just saying there used to be a site which produced an alternative table which took such things into account.

Regards the second point, I consider it a testament to the current team and our position in the league that we should be getting points from all those games, and that is something that is due to his ability to build a strong squad on a meagre budget. That we haven't done so it due to his inability to maximise said squad on a regular enough basis for me.

Edit: Did a quick google on the first point. Don't think it's the same site I remember, but something similar: http://www.debatabledecisions.com/english-premier-league-tables. Looks to be a couple weeks out of date.

It went wrong where it always goes wrong, we get close to achieving something and somehow manage to blow it, but then pick ourselves up against the bigger teams to suggest we can do it again,

rightresult.com and this new one definitely show the old.. ' things even out over a season' is just plain nonsense. its the kind of thing dull pundits say to sound sensible but it actually makes no statistical sense. a season is just a random period of time, why would things even out over that time. maybe they do over twenty years but I doubt that too. pretty sure you will find that there is a bias dependent on the profile and reputation of players of teams. Just logic really, but am worried that the pressures of certain teams to be in the top 4 financially has created a more sinister pattern.
like the law of averages, it may sound like people showing common sense when they say things even out, or accuse people of being kopites, but there really is no such thing as 'evening out or law of averages, just random events that are not dependent on other events. first time I was at Wembley Everton were robbed by Hansen's handball. a one off, never to be repeated event and I am still waiting for that to even out

RS - Sterling should of gone

Can't find the 2 blatant fouls but they are as obvious as the rest

RS - Suarez should of gone x 2

Them challenges were a disgrace from the little rat, no doubt we would have won that if Mirallas stayed on.

I was just about to highlight these 2 myself. Poor reffing decisions happen all year both for and against and yes I do think we get more against than many other teams. But these 2 above by that **** have no place in the game and it isn't just us. He has no shame in going around attempting to maim opposition players. I said last year that I hoped someone ended his career and was actually personally threatened by cult members who I don't even know. how can you defend that let alone his biting and racist misdameanors!

The things is though, he gets away with most things now after his ban last year. It's almost as if he's protected no matter what he does.

I cannot believe he is on the shortlist for PFA and Baines isn't. I would vote for Titus Bramble ahead of this cat. You can have all the talent in the world but if you demonstrate no sprting behaviour you do not deserve a second of recognition.
