Pienaar and Vellios against spurs.
Cleverley against Newcastle.

Are we simply an unlucky team?

You could argue that as we lack the winning mentality that the top club s in the league have, we never make these things happen for us.

We have always been happy to sit back and lose rather than really fight for the win.

I wouldn’t class yesterday as unlucky. It was a mixture of poor finishing and a bad judgement call at the end.

When we missed a couple of clear cut chances, I expected us to rue them later on, as that’s the way it usually goes. Especially away to a team who will continue to try and create chances till the end.

Yes and no, that miss hit volley at the end could have easily gone out...ok it was going out...but it could have flew high and wide into the stand. Such a bad contact leading to a goal is kind of unlucky, had it dropped a couple of feet sooner then Pickford wouldn't have been in two minds whether to deal with it.

I think seeing yesterday's debacle as a luck rather than competence issue is a fairly significant part of the problem. It's an excuse - an intangible - rather than being livid that we weren't good enough to win, again.
