i would say 4-1-2-1-2

howard
neville jags distin baines
fellaini/rodwell
wide player 1 wide player 2
cahill
saha beckford

arteta coleman bilya osman and pienaar can duke it out for the wide positions, we have a full squad of capable players so lets get some competition for positions going. cahill is good enough with the ball at his feet to play centre attacking mid, and this would still allow him to get into the box and be a threat.

this would definitely be a more attacking formation, as arteta tracked back to defend today far more than cahill does generally, but if fellaini keeps playing the way he does at defensive mid and our cb's keep up the good work i think this formation would work well
If we would have to play wide version of Diamond formation we would get killed in central midfield, and if we would be playing narrow version we need Coleman as RB, as in this kind of system it's fullback who provides width and Neville doesn't have a legs to do it without wide midfielder ahead of him.

footballs a funny aul game ...........

after a terrific win last night i thought of this site and people prematurely or subsconsicously writing off TIM cahill effect on the team performances or line ups

cmon give the guy a break he has single handedly been rattling the net for us this season and to suggest we cant play a game of football with passing , movement and passion with him in the 11 is simply daft

There will always be a place for him just a matter of finding the place, may have to take his turn as a sub, who knows. Lets wait and see how the next games go and what teams are put out by Moyes.
