Just admit your talking utter crap and we can move on.

You simply cant name me any player whos career was ended due to playing to many games.

I already have. And the fact is - its too many games, too quickly, too early for someone too young at this point.

You better go have some dinner Goat. Lack of food is obviously affecting your judgement on these issues.

I asked a simple question and you have failed to come up with an answer, so now you attempt to hide your failure behind insults.

If this was a boxing match I would be dancing round the ring with my hands in the air, if this was a street fight I would be heeling your head on the kerb.

Basically, you have been owned, please delete your account.

You asked for one example. I've given you two. The second of which was a RS player discussed on here who was forced to retire as a teenager.

"Owned".

You gave me the name of a player who had played 3 First Team games, given that the discussion is concerning young players who have suffered due to playing a lot of games in the first team at an early age, you failed hard.

Also the RS player you refer to, only played 1 first team game and if you read the story, you will note that a few of his injurys were due to non footballing things.

Please delete your account, you are done.

Go Goat.

Barkley is ace. Play him whatever his age, a 17 year old can play all the time, age shouldn't keep him out of the side.

If he's good enough, play him.

Sorry to jump in, but my sense of sensibility is taking over. You cited two examples of young players who suffered career-ending injuries, which is irrelevant to your point that Barkley mustn't be over-played. Neither player had to retire due to too many games - they both actually had less playing time than most others their age and were just unlucky enough to get badly injured. Barkley suffered a bad injury, but one that he has now recovered from - something neither of your examples did.

However, I'd agree that Barkley shouldn't be in the starting XI every week. A seventeen year-old is more susceptible to psychological fluctuations, especially if they have a dip in form. This can have a detrimental effect to their development. It's probably better for now if he doesn't think he's automatic first choice. Still, Rooney (a freakish exception, admittedly) finished his first season at 17 having made over 30 league appearances. Barkley has a similar bullish confidence to his play, and seems much better equipped, both physically and mentally, to deal with the pressures of being a first team regular.

This was my point though mate. He was starting our games, then was subbed immediately after conceding a pen. The very next game he doesn't start and is dropped to the bench.

Yep, it's a fair enough comment. As I said in that neat little bit when I contradicted myself completely, though, Ross has a seemingly fearless confidence to his play, so hopefully he won't be too despondent about losing his place.
