It's been revealed how Everton chairman Bill Kenwright dismissed one shareholder's quite legitimate question at the recent AGM over his failure to find foreign investment.

The Guardian says one small shareholder remarked: "Peter Trembling, [Everton's] former commercial director, recently left the club.

"Within three or four months of leaving he found investors – Middle East-based – to buy Notts County. If Everton are for sale, how much are you asking for the club?"

But Kenwright would not engage.

"Here we go; oh please," he said. "Come on."

The shareholder persisted: "You're not answering the question."

To which Kenwright responded: "I'm not answering your question. I'm bored with your question. You're not getting an answer to the question."

Very strange....

But we all know its far more complicated than just - kenwright sells his shares to someone rich, the club will be rich.

Thats quite old.

Suppose that quote is really the reason I dont trust him

This happened ages ago

Yeah i remember that!

Would be bad buissness to actually say wouldnt it, something is worth what someone is willing to pay.

Would he know anyway he cant sell the club afterall - mearley his own shareholding.

As i keep saying - the real question is what are the intentions of all the major shareholders for the future of Everton.

All these shareholders are all talk and no action. Ever read any of the minutes of any AGM. Someone asks a posing question and then 90% of the floor shrinks into their seats. Apparently this bloke had a few other people around him who could have forced the issue by also asking the question - but they did nothing.

It's all [Poor language removed]. Either say something or don't, and don't say something to everyone else when you had the chance there and then.

The club has clearly stated that the major share-holders do not intend to sell as they're committed to the Kirkby proposal. Once we know where that's heading things may change, but any prospective buyer would need to buy out about 3 significant share-holdings to gain a controlling interest. So it's not as simple as Kenwright just setting a price & waiting to see if anybody's willing to match it.
Based on this & a few other reports of his comments over the years though, there's quite a contrast between the rude Kenwright & the gushing Kenwright - which just shows how little we really know the Board when you consider he has the highest profile.

Exactly mate, but Evertonians know best. They see Pompey and West Ham getting taken over and ask why are we not. Well West Ham got ****ed and Pompey players are not getting paid.

It's generally the uneducated and ill informed who formulate wild opinions and never really back them up.

I was asked to front a pressure group once, the guy didn't want to put up, so he was asking me to. It was to get at Kenwright, but then we agreed that nothing would happen until Kirkby was sorted, and he even said he believes a deal is already in place - it's just the price that will change, again depending on Kirkby. So I asked why protest to get a man out when a deal is already in place.

Madness.

Welcome to the real world mate.

The internet provides a place for furious, paranoid opinion full of massive shithouses who wouldnt have that same opinion in real life.

These be good days, some just cant see it.

Without wanting to get into a debate about how good these good days be, I do have some sympathy with those who won't really be happy until the days be great rather than good.

Im happy with these good days, compared to Walker and Smith days, its bloody superb, nothing wrong with wanting more tho.

Absolutely. It needs to push on from here, which it will with Moyes in charge.

Unfortunately the days of coming from obscurity to take over the world - a la 85 - are no more in the modern game.

Takes time, but with everyone fit were going to be the absolute tits. Wait and see.
