What Was The Best Decade?

The 1980's: Mass unemployment, the Falklands, riots, Thatcher, cocaine, yuppies, the heroin epidemic, AIDS, the destruction of working class communities that still haven't recovered, the miner's strike, Orgreave, the Beanfield, SPG's, the elevation of selfish individualism over community spirit, seeing my friends parents losing their homes and livelihoods left right and centre, debt replacing wages, the destruction of working class solidarity, the seeds sown for what we're reaping now.

A bit of boss music towards the middle/end of it doesn't make it an ace decade. It was quite **** for an awful lot of people.

60's or 90's for me.

The 20's looked kinda cool, but not if you were black or poor.

You could say that about every single decade.

But not every single decade has this:

The original translation of the word nostalgia is 'the pain of memory' as opposed to how it is widely used ' the joy of memory'.
 

It's hard to pick one because they all had their moments. For me the 70's were the golden era of sports here in the US. I was a kid and I had no cares in the world. We were allowed to go out and play on our own and be gone the whole day and just be expected to show up for dinner. We had a lot more freedom than kids do now and I feel sorry for them. The 80's were the decade I was a teenager. Some boss music, boss films, and still a simpler time. On the other hand radio was ****e, and there was no internet and sat TV as I've pointed out. The 90's were fantastic for shagging as I moved into my 20's. This was my sex, drugs, and rock and roll decade. I made the most of it. The 00's were the decade I finally started making money...my thirties were still fun and my mates were all still single and living close. This decade? Not fantastic so far, but it's early.
