What is the media’s agenda?

I’m an Aussie and the commentators on Optus Sport are so anti-Everton. 2-0 up and it’s a “surprise that Everton are playing well” rather than being seen as “Everton living up to their standards.” The sheer arrogance and ignorance from the media is what pisses clubs with ambitions of breaking the top 6 off.

How are we meant to gain new fans or a wider reach if everything we do is deemed as “lucky” or the other team’s shortcomings rather than Everton’s quality?

They all grew up as Liverpool or United fans and their rhetoric will always revert to that sooner rather than later. As Everton were a main rival in their formative years then we shall forever be dismissed as inferior even if we are tanking their beloveds.

We don’t care what the RS say anyway.

Some of it is probably down to ignorance. I'd imagine guff like that comes from them not actually being too knowledgeable about what goes on outside of the top 6 since many of them (often despite having been footballers themselves) actually know sod all about the rest of the league, being without the depth of knowledge that -should- be required to land the job in the first place.

I’m thankful there’s not a RS in sight tonight. Tim Cahill (legend) John Walters (ex Burnley but a blue) and Andy Hinchcliffe co commentating makes such a refreshing change from Carragher, Souness, Redknapp et al.
I’d love to hear Timmy commentating that’d be boss

Christ I'm tired and made the same point twice in a sentence. Anyhow my point is that football could use more commentators that aren't there only because of their United/Liverpool/whatever playing merits if they don't provide any analytical depth. Perhaps some former managers could do a better job?

....by being successful.

@davek could do a better job

Yeah, the american broadcast is just as bad. The second goal which was clearly nowhere near offsides got 5 minutes of comments about how Richarlison was offside, but you could probably argue he wasnt impeding things enough? It was absurd, as usual.
