Post match, Roberto Martinez mentioned in an interview that despite the result, we mustn't be too disheartened as in reality we've had a successful season.

It made me wonder, come the end of the season - what would fans consider 'successful' for Everton?

I've setup a poll - please vote and of course, comment.

Champions League Qualification
Europa League Qualification
Cup Win (FA or League Cup)
Top 10 League Finish

Top 6 and a cup win would be superb.
Top 4 would be even better.
Top 4 and a cup win would be out of this world.

Anything less than top 6 and at least getting to Wembley would be seen as a disappointment in my eyes.

I think Roberto has confused success with progress.

We've made significant progress under him both in mentality and playing style.

Call me naive, but I can't vote for any of those choices.

Success is winning the league for me. Plain and simple.

Success is all relative.

In a transitional season (it is, I don't care who uses that phrase), where you're totally changing your style of play, I'd class 6th as successful.

Next season, I'll want more. Then even more the following season.

I just want to see clear progression in playing style, results and ultimately league position over the coming couple of seasons. Any cup wins thrown in would be hugely welcomed, too.

Champions League Qualification
or
Cup Win (FA or League Cup)

Anything else I consider it unsuccessful, ah the days of us not winning the title considered being unsuccessful.

Maybe the question should be directed at the people who run the club? After 14 years, you will fogive me for being a little jadded of the fan,s poll,s when it appears that we have no real tangabile influence over the ambition and sucess of the club.

Believe me, I understand the sentiment, but GOT exists for the fan community to discuss things.

On topic, fan expectation at the beginning of the season was probably much lower; however, given the way Martinez has become "soak" with Everton, those lower expectations were left on the field during the first half of the Newcastle thrashing. As of right now, anything less than Europa qualification will feel like a missed opportunity. Even then, if we don't at least make it to Wembley as well, I'll feel proud but disappointed.
