Player Valuation: £70m
We were never a selling club.

Imagine this. But first of all put aside all animosity and hatred.

If we never had to sell the players who we brought through.

Michael Ball
Richard Dunne
Gavin McCann
Francis Jeffers
Wayne Rooney

Those there are 5 players who if stayed at Everton could well be playing Champions League football with the Blues.

Its all Peter Johnson's fault the tit head.

Remember when he was trying to get Andy Gray as manager and Gray had a shopping list of players. Oh and Peter Johnson said it was his dream to see Everton lift the European Cup.

Yeah, thanks for nothing.

But, Moyes is starting to get us back to those days. Although Kendrick would probably find a few holes in our plans.

You say that but only Rooney of those five would get into our current first team. Dunne has made a solid career for himself but Ball, McCann and Jeffers all failed to live up to their potential for various reasons. Ball in particular has been very frustrating. Have a read of this article on him in the Telegraph from 1998.

Comparisons were being made with Paolo Maldini and he was set for a long international career. Jeffers likewise seemed to have the world at his feet when he partnered Campbell to such great effect. Then he moved to Arsenal and it all started going wrong, despite scoring on his England debut.

Yeah but my point is, if they never left Everton there careers may have been different in terms of performance.

Dunne for me is a rock and I believe he would walk into our team. Rooney obviously. Jeffers though for me was a revelation when he was first at Everton, as was Ball. The fact they were moved on certainly had an effect on their game.

I think dunne is a superb defender but he is like yobo he switches off now and again.

Dunne turned into an immense player, but had a multitude of personal problems at the time he left us and is his early city career, out of all listed above he was the one i thought would simply fade away! Its a funny old game, still has no pace though, but his bravery, engine and positional play are amoung the best around!

Calm down on Dunne lads.

Hes having a good season yes, but last season City fans wanted rid of him.

Would you swop Lescott or Yobo for Dunne?

No?

Didn't think so (y)

You answered your own question there. :)

If Dunne was still at Everton, then someone of his quality and calibre would not harm the squad. Keep everyone on their toes.

Dunne was one of the few good things about City's season last season (doh). I had him in my FF team then and he scored bags O'Points and he has scored bags O'Points this season for me too.

To be fair Danny, hes been city's player of the season for the last four, and has performed consistently well, both at club and international level even captaing his country, i thnk the point is rather then as a potential accusistion, we could have had him here for nothing, but then hands up i never thought hed turn into the player he did!

I used to play against him and Robbie Keane and school boy level here in Dublin with both being form the same area, i was talking to one or two of his old mates and they told me to stick a few pound on him joing the [Poor language removed]!

wasn't it the clubs choice to sell Dunne?

Fair dues to him though for changing one or two
off the field habits, knuckling down and becoming a top
premiership defender.
