I'm just a junior member... but I suppose that's down to me.... would it be possible to get a feed to NewsNow's Everton Page? That way, as stuff comes in, it could be a prompt for discussion and stuff..

just a thought

Definitely. First thing that needs to be done, need to make the site look 'established' (sort of speak) before they will accept it though :)
 
The World football thread, while a good idea, can swamp the green shoots of promising little threads by shoving them down the list under tons of random stories.

Perhaps an additional forum for 'other' football threads of our own creation?

Maybe stick a media section or something in.

How about reducing the amount of BBC RSS feeds on the world football forum? The idea behind it was to prompt users to discuss a wide array of topics, but as you rightly said, it can also 'swamp' the forum.

Then other users can add their own threads?
