What do pre-season results really tell us?

  • nowt, results are irrelevant as they're just glorified training sessions

  • how good we are, a decent win or two can bring positive vibes all round

  • depends if there's cheese on toast at half-time

They tell me that it's going to take more than a few months to sort out the fine mess left by these three clowns.

Pre season isn't really about results or even performance as such but with a new manager and players who should be trying to impress you would expect to see "something" different.

The worry for me is that they look exactly the same as they did last season, not making many chances, poor possession and getting absolutely decimated by any team who runs at us.

It tells us that our squad is so thin that we'd better bring in reinforcements and be healthy for at least half the season.

It tells us that nothing has changed, new manager hasn’t changed anything, I thought he was meant to be trying a new system.
If he has a philosophy then the club need to give him the players to do so.

With the set of players he inherited he will struggle to get much more than Allardyce did.

played 6
won 0
drew 1
lost 5
scored 4
conceded 12

possibly the most miserable pre-season we've ever had, in terms of results, especially considering the mostly meagre opposition. At least some bright moments from our recent signings in the 1st-half vs Valencia, plus we (hopefully) will get Pickford back in goal for the proper games.
