Carol Kaye played on all those hits. I'm in touch with her and she is a very normal person. So nice and very modest .

She was the the bass behind The Beat Goes On which was brilliant.

Really? Ah that's really cool.

I actually saw an interview on YouTube with her recently for a Dutch programme which looks at the story behind a famous hit record.

As you say, she seemed really down to earth and lovely. I think they even paid a visit to her old record studio and they wouldn't let them in and didn't recognise her and she just laughed it off.

I remember once someone having a late night argument with me saying they didn't rate Paul McCartney and i said if he had never done anything else in his life, Blackbird was a thing of beauty.

That's the same for Brian Wilson, for all his countless songs and achievements if he had only ever given us this it would be enough.

I think that the Beach Boys at their high point was the most uplifting music in the world.

The Long And Winding Road is an important song for many people too. I think Paul and Brian were both geniuses to have produced such beauty.

It's like Cezanne or Turner if that's not pushing things too far!

Out of their own heads, they constructed beauty.
