He was all things to everyone across a career that spanned 30 years, constantly driving musical innovation.

A rare genius.

I think everyone has a favourite Bowie track that touched and moved them at a singular or even multiple points in time and genre.

My personal faves are Heroes as I lived in Berlin for a time and felt the song and it’s meaning.

And finally my other fave is no plan from his 2017 EP, pure music genius.

i've lived here since 2006. i've heard of his so-called Berlin trilogy but only checked out Low so far (which i thought was ok but nowt spectacular). So many great Berlin bands have more interested me like Einstürzende Neubauten, Rammstein, Cluster/Harmonia, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Ash Ra Tempel, Cosmic Jokers and then there's the Düsseldorf scene with Neu!, Kraftwerk & Can. From all them Neubauten became my favourite band behind only Pink Floyd, they've such an epic & varied discography. Can, Neu!, Harmonia & T-Dream have made albums which may get in my all-time top 10, deffo top 20 (Tago Mago, Neu!, Musik von Harmonia & Phaedra respectively).

So with such a strong musical journey, Bowie's fabled Berlin trilogy hasn't got much of a look-in.

If you're interested in specific Berlin-flavours, especially pre-unification, try Neubauten's Haus der Lüge which has a field recording of the Maifestspiele (Mai 1 riots) of West Berlin.
