Back in 1979 or 1980 ,my father who was working as an engine mechanic on oil tankers around the world came back home (to the inner fjords of northern Norway) with Kraftwerks album Radioaktivität (released 1975 I think). He listened to it now and then, especially Radioactivity and Ohm sweet Ohm and i found all the new sounds very fascinating. In these days this music was nouveau beyond belief in my very small village and I guess hardly even heard of.
A couple of years later i found the cassette in a drawer and put in on his Japanese bought Sansui cassette deck and my oh my how everything changed about music for me.
While listening to the sound of frontier worlds to come and release me from the icy waters and lonely mountains all around me I kept staring at the album (cassette) cover throughout the whole album.

.

It was like the loudspeaker on the cover was talking directly to me. There were sounds I had never heard or noticed before. Electronic snares, weird noises from outer space and and an eerie feeling about it all .The buildup from Geiger Counter to Radioactivity was one of my most perfect music moments to date and one that made me appreciate the more monotonous aspects of electronic music as well.

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of inviting my dad (who still lives up north) to one of Kraftwerks (8 I think)concerts in Oslo where they started out with playing the first part of the Radioactivity-album. It was a bit of true magic and such a pleasure doing it with my dad who had introduced me to the music. We sat there with our 3D-glasses on like eager teenagers and giggled when we looked at each other and totally enjoyed the evening with each other and the music.

Just sharing...:)
