What all the major grounds looked like 25 years ago

My problem is I am old enough to remember them 35 years ago - and indeed 45 if you include watching MOTD and The Big Match as a nipper!
Same here mate, I am a child of the (late) 50's, so cursed with acheing joints and receding hairline, blessed with memories of some of the finest we have ever fielded ;) so it aint all bad eh?.

How far behind we have fallen, with only Burnley and Crystal Palace treading water alongside us while every other (so-called) Premiership club has massively redeveloped, modernised or moved to a new ground.

If anything epitomised how other people see us it is Goodison. Love it as I do, I feel a sense of embarrassment going there with friends who support rival teams, as it really is 30 years behind the times.

I can remember legitimately chanting 'Sh*tty ground...' virtually everywhere I went with Everton in the 70 and 80s. Now the boot is so on the other foot and I couldn't complain if the likes of Brighton, Leicester Stoke, Southampton and Swansea made the same claim at our rather dilapidated, less than grand 'old lady'.

Those excavators can't move in to Bramley Moore Dock fast enough - we so need it to re-establish ourselves among the elite.

Until then, the board who have so wantonly let time overtake us need to hang their heads in shame for such amateurish lack of investment.

I don't agree actually. Alot of new stadiums are either badly designed or just uninspiring and functional. Emirates is the obvious example, stands too far away from the pitch, rake of the lower tier too shallow so sightlines are poor, ring of silence corporate tier round the whole middle of the stadium which stops any atmostphere spreading from the lower to the upper. I took my Mum there and she thought it was boring... first thing she said was "I prefer it at West Ham"... (and of course she was talking about Upton Park, not the new place which is such an extreme example of what I'm talking about its not even fair to mention it.)

There isn't a single new stadium in the country that I'd want us to replicate at Bramley Moore. Lets get it right!
