Arsene Wenger has increased the pressure on under-fire Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez by admitting a trip to Everton is now more of a challenge than playing at Anfield.

Benitez has received heavy criticism this campaign as his Liverpool side have failed to live up to their early season billing of title challengers.

And Benitez's future with the Reds has been thrown further in to doubt after club owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks revealed they held talks with Jurgen Klinsmann, who was recently appointed Bayern Munich boss, about replacing Benitez.

Wenger has now fuelled the fires at Anfield by revealing playing Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton is a more daunting fixture.

"Liverpool is the same kind of support but Everton is a bit more aggressive because Everton is up at the moment," said Wenger.

"Over the last one or two years, especially, it has been one of the noisiest grounds and has a great atmosphere.

"Liverpool is the same but now a little bit more genteel."
I couldnt resist sneaking a peek at Liverpool fans reaction....

sensationalised i think.

blueshit park is raucous because their fans are like caged animal screaming for throw ins like they are penalties, as opposed to our hat wearing, camera toting fun boy following.
He's probably right. Unless we meet him in a European quarter or semi final.
And predictably, one of them links it to '5 times'

Thoughts are Mr.Magoo is putting the boot in to the manager who got to two Champions League finals in three years - and won one - when the Super Genius Frenchman managed to get to one final in all his years at Arsenal and LOST.

Sour grapes that Arsenal are a CL winning free zone.

Arsene.....WE'VE WON IT FIVE TIMES.
I've got to agree. Our home form is shocking this year...
don't think he's a million miles of the mark to be honest! if i were a manager of a premier league team right now then i'd prefer a trip to anfield than to everton, sad but true
he's only trying to deflect attention from his stumbling title bid. [Poor language removed] peado
:mellow::lol:

Wenger is right, of course they're more frightening!

Here's the proof :

   - its so true though...

Im more scared of facing portsmouth, man city and villa than liverpool and chelsea.

You never see managers say things like that about teams that they actually fear going to. It's like Fergie - he's always complimenting us every year. He "loves" us. Because we give them 6 points every year. It's when we'll be hated by the big4 that you know we are back as a major power.

Thats a bit out there mate if anything id say were one of their bogey teams. In fairness i bet he never says it after an away game at Boro!:D

Nice comments from the man. If you look at the games arsenal have played against us and the RS then I agree that his comments are genuine.
Our tails are up and we can smell a big win this year. Most RS fans I speak to are practically crying in to their drinks over the shambles their club has become.

and then there were three......

Nice to read such comments but in truth they are just part of what I believe will be a concerted effort by Arsenal, United and Chelsea to create an image of "a big three".

It reminds me of when you see in the tour de france when rider drops of the leading pack never to be seen again - the rest press on and the drop out fades away.

In the Premiership the Peleton have caught up with Liverpool with us leading the way - now for the "tete de la course" !!

Did he actually call himself a funboy!:D

You cant argue with genius, not bad for a small club!

My thoughts exactly, I was genuinely DELIGHTED to read Wenger's comments yesterday, and proceeded to show them to every RS I knew. I love anything that gets up their noses, [Poor language removed] that shower of murderers.

As for some of those comments, suprised their fans can even type in English, what with them all being Norwegian or whatever.
