McFadden, Straqualersi, Edson Buddle, Sol Campbell, David Weir... welcome to Everton 2012.

Remind anyone else of the final days of the miserable Smith regime?

I'm compiling useless youtube clips of him for Rangers so you can see he can defend. Oh and Scotland once beat England so to be fair he's probably better than Rio Terry.

So you would rather us waste our miniscule transfer budget on a player who wont play if everyone is fit than get some back up who knows the club and the manager for free who can be a useful addition to coaching as well

He's clearly only coming as cover and then will move into coaching, therefore he probably won't play and we'll have one of the most experienced Centre Backs in Premier League history mentoring Duffy and co. Plus he's a blue.

He'll cost next to nothing as he'll be free and on very low wages, so unless he plays I can't see this being anything but good.

The thing for me is that he wont play at all. Anyone who's seen his last games in the SPL knows he'll get raped by the slowest (and slowest witted) PL striker. My objection is that IF he comes in it'll be in a coaching capacity and that's just a wage bill being piled onto the club for one of the old boys who backed Moyes in his early days at the club when he was facing a dressing room rebellion. That cash should be getting spent wisely on playing staff, not used to give this feller a nice little earner and a leg up the career ladder. **** him. Let Rangers look after him with a coaches job.

If Weir comes in in a playing/coaching capacity he'll be on about £700 a week.

And if he's just coaching he'll be on about £400.

Which is absolutely nothing really.

If Weir comes in in a coaching capacity he'll be on about £500 a week. Nothing.

It's not just the possibility of this though. There's something horribly wrong with Everton as a club at the moment. There's the whiff of cronyism in the air that I haven't smelled since Walter Smith was taking his bungs (sorry, *book money*) and signing auld arse players he knew and working his buddies into positions in the club. We're getting shabby deals done holding onto players for super agents, like in the Dier saga; Straquelersi is from the same stable as that; this Buddle connection with Donovan's agent; and now this (if true) about Weir.

It stinks to high heaven. A real chilling throwback to days at Everton that I thought we'd escaped from.

A very sad period in the club's history this.

BUT WE HAZ NO MONEYZ!

It is, it is.

We might have little money, but we can try and retain our dignity and not journey down that road of jobs for the boys and general cronyism that we look to be embarking on.
Unfortunately we can't.

At the moment we can only get players that are free or extremely cheap, and no one else wants. Whether that's because they're old boys or because their agent's slipped a word in that's the way it is.

if everton were an animal we would be on the way to the vets to be put down, its would be more humane than the slow painful death were going through, call the rspca bill

It was a joke ffs! he's probably going to Tranmere or something.
He could also be drafted in to make the lads cheese on toast after training. or something

What IS the point though? We bend the stick to accomodate a few sad old pros and agents to achieve what exactly? 10th place instead of 11th or 12th?

These people aren't going to rocket us up the table, that's for sure. We need to turn our backs on this.

I'm pretty surprised at Moyes possibly going down this Walteresque road, tbh. Shocked in fact.
