I’ve said this before earlier but I believe it fully.
The reason why it hurts so bad, is because for years and years and years Sam Allardyce has been used as the hypothetical “punishment” for Everton, if stuff goes wrong.
When a kid or a teen shows signs of things not going well, they’re told “you’ll end up at McDonalds” by everyone. Again and again for years, and it becomes something that is a massive sign of failure, ending up at McDonald’s. When in reality , it’s not that bad. It’s a job it’s money , it’s not dole whatever. But you’re told for years not to mess your life up and end up at McDonald’s
We’ve had this for years , since the Moyes days. “If we’re not careful we’ll end up with Sam Allardyce” it’s become a stigma , a sign of failure. No matter how bad things are we could be worse , it could be Sam Allardyce.
So it hurts, it’s hurts more than it should, it’s a sign of failure, we have failed at what we wanted to achieve under Bobby/Koeman. We are starting are shift , we are flipping burgers and our little scabies infested dolite cousins are laughing at us. It’s embarrasing, we’ve become what we’ve been desperate not to become for years.
But it could be worse. We could be employing Sammy Lee, oh wait.
