That was a disgrace of a transfer window, and we all know it.

No excuses: we had a perfect opportunity to strengthen in key areas and push on. It wasn't taken.

Have you seen how low people's expectations have been brought down to on here mate? It's all alright how the last 48 hours panned out

Kenwright's greatest legacy will be to have turned a club that sees itself as a (stricken) member of the elite to one that sees itself as a number of clubs destined for all time to watch trophies being doled out to 'our betters'.

He's far and away the greatest plague to have been visited upon Everton since Houlding in the late nineteenth century. But people have taken up a position of defending hm and find it hard to lose face by joining in the condemnation of his reign. That';s the way it looks to me anyway, because there's no other rational explanation for giving this feller the time of day.

Prior to window everyone's concern was loss of Fellaini and/or Baines. Neither happened and I don't think anyone expected an £8m+ signing - it's just unfortunate the Fer thing fell through as if it hadn't even been muted in first place I think most would see this window as 'safely' shut without us losing players rather than lamenting a lack of big name signing.

Thought you were better than that Longers. People use anything for their own agenda- negative agenda on all things Everton.

Im disappointed we didnt strengthen but with our finances Im glad we didnt panic when the targets we were after didnt materialise. Would much rather have money to spend in the summer when prices arent so inflated and players are more accessible.

Holy **** lad - can i have the time machine you're using so i can see what next week's winning euro millions numbers are?

FFS grow some balls and see what happens. It's sports. The richest team doesn't always do the best. We had a **** squad when we came 4th. Maybe we'll do it again.

Or we can take the boo-hoo approach and say we have no chance.

You are absolutely correct Sir...(y)

We have No Chance!

This.

How utterly depressing reading this forum! Anyone would think we were Villa, on the slide and not buying anyone of note. Yes it would have been nice to get a couple of players in who could slip straight into the first team but for whatever reason it didnt happen. Now we have to get on with the job in had and do all we can to ensure we have a succesful second half to the season. We always seem to do best when we are up against it with a small tight knit squad and i cannot see the next 5 months being any different.

FFS Man-up and enjoy the second half of what hopefully will be a succesful season

Remember folks we are only a point behind 4th and in the 5th round of the FA cup!!

This, we have alot of tarts on here

I'm angry mate, but I'll calm down (y)

People are far more accepting than me at the moment and I'm struggling to fathom why. Don't judge me Mick.

Looking at the positive at least we didn't sell anyone late on and not have time to replace them. We are 5th with a winnable game tomorrow and the teams in 6th and 7th have far tougher matches than us as do the team in 4th. Onwards and upwards hopefully.

We are one point off fourth place. We have not lost any of the players that got us to that position.
Our main rivals in Spurs and Arsenal haven't done any business that makes them substantially stronger than us and they have European commitments as well.

I regret not signing Fer(based on the managers enthusiasm for the player ) but we are no worse off now than we were at the start of the month and strangely our biggest rivals are no stronger either.

Going to be difficult mate with our run in:

Man United, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool all away, Man City at home.

Any other season I would of agreed with you mate, and it will be difficult. However, I think if it's gonna happen this is our best year. Everyone one of those teams leak goals. I know our defence is hardly as tight as a ducks backside, but at least this season we know they are susceptible at the back. And let's face it, this Everton team has goals in it.

We haven't been playing great recently and we are still in a good position. If we improve even slightly, there's a good chance we'll take points off the teams you've mentioned (even if its only draws).

I'm not exactly sunshine and optimism when it comes to Everton (not many evertonians are) but I think the op is right. Lets get behind the team and staff and just see what we can do.

The Club were culpable of not going that extra yard to try and strengthen when we were on the cusp of achieving something last time out (4th spot finish, CL qualification etc) and we ended up with a bloody nose and battered pride. Missed opportunity etc.

I bet most of us at one point or another have been on here and written or read that it was a huge mistake for the club, and showed a total lack of ambition and risk-taking, when it was worth doing so in the circumstances.

I see this window as being of similar ilk. I'm not talking about daft risks such as QPR (Jesus H - they're suicidal!), but a calculated risk with the buffer of maybe, reluctantly, selling off some silver (Fellaini) in the summer if the gamble didn't pay off.

To think we're still here 7 years or so later. Same board. Same Chairman. Same Manager. Same missed opportunity.

We're clearly not one of the big guns any more - we all have to wake up and accept that (the wiser ones already have). But to be on the verge of something but show no real appetite to have a bloody good go at seizing the moment, is just downright depressing and disgraceful in equal measure.

I quite agree. Whilst I am pleased that we are doing pretty well anyway, we have not strengthened at all. I would have preferred Kenwright to just be honest and say that we don't have the funds to add anyone of real note rather than spin one of his theatrical webs pretending that we are after everyone out there (wait until the Summer when he tells us that he is after RVP but then reveals at the end of the window that Man U wouldn't accept our £5m offer!).

Fer's injury cannot have been that bad as he has been back playing for some time now and having a bit of residual fluid on a knee after injury is hardly uncommon. Fact is we just didn't intend to buy him and used that as the excuse. We were also never going to pay for Negredo but that little transfer saga kept us all guessing and amused until the penny actually dropped (more or less equal to our transfer kitty) and we realised that we had only bought a defender from a lower division club.

What will cost us in the end will be the chances that we have missed this season rather than the ocassional goal that we concede.

Let's just hope that Mirallas and Gibson come back fit for enough games to give the side a lift as there will be no Donovan, Jelavic or similar signing to do that this year.

Phill Neville is my main worry in midfield contributed nothing the other night surely Barkley could do a lot better than that along side the other good midfielders???!

No point talking about Neville as it'll only spark everyone's angina every time. He'll be in the starting 11 week in, week out. It's a ridiculous state of affairs, but we've stuck with him.

Do the player's 'shirts' still get sponsored in the matchday programme etc (going back many years since I bought one)? If so, it'd be ace if Neville's was sponsored by Bleach or Domestos.
