"We are in a poor, poor situation"

So Bainsey, here it is mate, the verbatim quote from Moyes on EvertonTV that you keep harping on about:

"No I didn't think we deserved to lose the game but we didn't create enough good forward. But we always find it difficult when we come to America. We're finding it difficult because we don't have enough players and we can't get to the standards. So we can't hide the fact we're needing new players at Everton; everybody knows it: I know it, our players know it as well, so we have to get five or six players in before the season starts."

"No it wasn't really because at the end of the day we had the players out, our players are getting fit, but it's OK getting fit, you've got to be able to play better. At the moment there's not enough competition for them to realise that if they play poorly then they won't be selected. Until we get that competition then maybe players will think that they can have sub-standard performances. I've got to make sure I've got people around who are not allowing that to happen."

"No we never played forward enough, we never got forward, we never in truth made any chances but let's not kid ourselves, we're playing sort of Dan Gosling and Jack Rodwell, Jose Baxter who are going to be real talented players but at the moment they're young and they're only making their way and we're asking them to come in. We're bringing back Mikel Arteta, Steven Pienaar, and Yak, who really have had no football hardly ever, er yet, so far, so in the forward areas we're really lacking sort of players who are ready to play. And really lacking those players who can make a difference at the present time."

Unless I've missed something? AFAIK Moyes was asked a broad question about any imminent movement in the transfer market - nobody specifically was mentioned - to which he replied: "No, not at the moment. We are in a poor, poor situation regarding going forward." Quite how that translates as "No, not at the moment, although we are desperately in need of more attacking options", I don't know.

Where is that in the above?

The words "No, not at the moment" didn't exit his mouth on the interview i watched, that was the echo's spin on Moutinho {which also wasn't mentioned in Moyes's interview}

He said we are in a "poor, poor situation regarding going forward" and he was on about the strikers.

The situation is really worrying at present. if we start the season with what we have now, we're going to struggle.
I also cant think Moyes will sign his contract. Why would he sign in this current situation?

actually you're all wrong.

I sold him a datsun about a week ago which has a tendency to stick in reverse.

funny how things get mis interpreted

Are you now talking about the pre-match interview?

Forget it FFS.

Lets just got on with it now. Back the manager an the boys.

We'll bring a few players in soon an we'll all be chuffed to [Poor language removed] again.

I've just watched the interview, and there's no doubt that Moyes is hanging to our club by a thread. He looks dejected and let down. If he leaves, I will never forgive Bill Kenwright.

I can't wait till bluekipper is back so all you doom merchant morons can get the hell out of this forum and have your mutual whine-fests back there (y)

Amen, Brother. (y)

The Kipper "Relocate Forum" performed a valuable service.

Kept them all together, mutually backslapping and whinging to one another, instead of being on the "street" as it were.

I wish they would hurry up and fix it.

The one after the game.

Yes, he doesn't mention anything about imminent incoming transfers - because that pleb who was interviewing him didn't ask. As an interviewer, if Moyes had said to me, "we're finding it difficult because we don't have enough players and we can't get to the standards. So we can't hide the fact we're needing new players at Everton; everybody knows it: I know it, our players know it as well, so we have to get five or six players in before the season starts", my first question back would have been, "is there anything in the pipeline?", instead the official website interviewer posed "you could see at the start of the second half they changed every single player, was that a case of turning around and saying 'Oh no, 11 fresh players against us here'?" Great stuff, that.

Not sure why - but you're assuming that the Echo have made the quote up from the interview on the official site rather than a seperate quote/interview given to them post-match...
