Wayne Rooney

I put it to you that Wayne Rooney is the only reason for the relative success of Everton over the Moyes era. In most part because of the money generated from his sale.

Now the power of that money is fading so is the club.

Mostly agree...

The 1st season we where all excited, because of Rooney, not any of Moyes signings, and we scared teams because of his unknown element...

Season after we where poor, as Moyes had no other ideas after the initial high, and a combination of Moyes misusing Rooney, and at times relying solely on his talents, we just looked clueless.

The season after, the 4th season, was all about backs to the wall, triumph over adversity... the reason? The sale of Rooney, a true low point in Evertons history...

And after that, we did basically survive on the pitiful, pitiful transfer fee

So yeah, I would say that you where right in those respects.

But giving Moyes some credit, and it is due, he made it work in the most part since Rooney left. As bad as we are now, and we are bad, we could have easily collapsed after Rooney left. But we didn't, we actually improved.

I think he has lost all of his initial drive and enthusiasm, and his negativity is rubbing off on the squad, rather than the brash **** you attitude we had back then. Its like his approach to the "superior" teams has now shifted to every team we play.

And it blows.

Fascinating, did you know it was only £10 mill down and £10 mill the summer after - the rest on the drip. And it happened very late. So if your point of view held any water at all, the £10 mill received for Arteta this summer would have had the same impact.

Ridiculous?

I put sugar on my corn flakes (haven't had any for years tho'). Aren't frosties for fat people in electronic wheel chairs?

History to repeat itself perhaps? We were going downhill until a superstar generated us enough money to rebuild our squad.

Now... We're spiralling downhill again, with another superstar on our hands, Ross Barkley. He plays a season for us before getting snapped up for £30m?

I hope it doesn't happen. He could be brilliant for us.
