I can understand his decision. He hates the fame and attention stuff, and no doubt it would continue in abundance if came back into the England team, and would probably impact on his club performances. It is clear that Everton is his priority.

Love it when players tell the England manager to stick their recall, I had massive respect for Paul Robinson for doing it a few years back.

Rooney clearly couldn't be taking this return any more seriously, anything he has left is being used for us and no one else. Great.

As an Evertonian, I can't deny I'm pleased that Wayne has made this decision.
For me it proves just how sensible and realistic he is about prolonging his playing career and that must be on club football.
