Was Benitez right about Everton all along?

Called us out on being a small club back in the day. 2019 and no trophies these are just the fachhts.

Depends on how you read his quote. We are demonstrably not a small club, whether judged by history, current spending, level of support, average attendance. Not to forget continual presence in the top flight and maybe average league position?

If you accept his explanation: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...ght-to-call-everton-a-small-club-2363821.html. Then although it was a low blow whichever I resented back then I think he had a point, moyes used to drive me mental with his safety first approach against what then was 'big 4K' clubs. There were times where I think he left points on the table that the team was capable of winning.

I got over it and when we were linked with him a few years back I thought he'd be ideal, but the reaction of others put me right, so please don't take the above for a Benitez for manager post or start driving me out of here with the pitchforks.

Wasn't that just after the game we put a stick in the spokes of that lots Premier League challenge? I'm surprised he didn't produce a 12 item list of why he believed us to be a small club.

Am I right to think Benitez was the fattest manager in the premier league era?
