Watched it on FX or whatever it was on a while ago. It was excellent.

Wish the second season would hurry up...

Yeah. I think we had a chat about it on here back then?

It was a boss show, like, but the ending was a bit... meh. But knowing there's a second season puts that disappointment to rest. Although I wish said second season would arrive!

But yeah, mixing TV with zombies is a great idea. One of the many reasons I prefer TV to movies, is that writers get more time to explore ideas and develop characters. Zombie films have the depth of a paddling pool, at best, but this show managed to bring genuine drama to something as absurd as a zombie apocalypse.

Saw it for the first time tonight. Really enjoyed it. That's what zombie's should be like. Like the first few Resident Evil games. Slow walkers. The ones that run arn't proper zombies. Really annoys me.

What about the evil dead films??

I felt sorry for that horse he took into Atlanta. Didn't he say to the horse 'here's the deal: you let me saddle up and I'll bring you to a place where there's lots of people and even other horses...it'll be sound'?

Next scene...horse entrails everywhere.

Good show like.

It's a great show based on a great set of graphic novels. Lincoln really is a great actor. Series 2 looks great, real potential. I like that the zombies are kind of in the background to the story

What about the evil dead films??

I liked the first, but erm, I don't remember too much character development. It was a straight up horror film, I actually found a bit funny. I'm not sure if it was meant to be funny, as it's 30 years old, so maybe I was just laughing at the outdated effects =S

Either way, it's impossible to build characters and real drama in 2 hours of film, in the same way you can with multiple episodes of TV.

Indeed, look at superhero films. Very little in the way of plausible backstory. Heroes was so successful because they delved into that more.

Well, perhaps that's not a great example, seeing as it was cancelled and suffered quite a quick and merciless drop in ratings.

The thing that annoyed me about Heroes, though, was that I loved the first two seasons... then the third was crap, but it finally felt like they were getting their act together in the final season; I was pulled in again. And then it got cancelled.

No it's the perfect example really. The first season concentrated on the characters as did the second a fair bit so it was very successful. The third was more about shoeing in as many superheroes and villains as possible and suffered for it.

It's the only example, sadly. "The Cape" is the only other instance of a modern day superhero show, in this vein, I can think of. And that sucks. Badly.

There's clearly so much potential here though. TV doesn't get the same respect as film, but as an avid fan of both, I have to say I prefer TV... infinitely. So much is lost and missed out on when you have to condense everything into one 2 hour chunk.
