I hope its right that someone has thrown a big bet on.

Going from 33-1 to something like 2-1 in the space of a day based on a "mis-quote" and our lack of transfer activity is a big jump.

I just know for a fact the minute you see Moutinho or M'Bia holding that blue shirt, we'll look back on all this like dunces

Moyes is favourite at 9/2 on betfair for a managerial change, hope its just the fact that wyness left and his contract is taking time to come through...

Its a scary worrying time and you feel its possible anything can happen. But when I look at Moyesie doing that interview after the Chicago fire game I just can't believe thats a man who is supposedly just about to leave us all in the [Poor language removed].

Moyes wouldn't leave us in the [Poor language removed]. He's too much of a professional to just walk out 2 weeks before the season starts. Worse case scenario is he refuses to sign a new contract, see's out the season, tries to help us finish as high as possible and leaves at the end of the season.

He wont walk out and leave us in the lurch.

[Poor language removed] me we believe the papers and the bookies more than the people themselves, who's gonna start an artetta to analfield thread or somethin' [Poor language removed] like that, really, they make a statement then they reitterate it and then some gobshoite starts a rumour and 1/2 of merseyside goes into meltdown.

a mate who works at villa park was givin' martin o'neill a lift home 'cos he had a couple of irish whiskey's to celebrate the rs missing the deadline, o'neill apparently said he wouldnt sell barry to "that fat ignorant spanish [Poor language removed]" and cos he also doesnt want him to play for him anymore is considering offering him to us on loan as he likes moyes and couldnt think of a better way of giving Rafael the "dirty puppy" treatment, i didnt want to post this as my friend does exaggerate a little but it seems any trivial bit of tittle tattle has to be posted, and i didnt want to get everyones hopes up.

Ajax Andy - Agreed. Beyond his professionalism and all round good eggedness though which is well celebrated amongst us I mean he doesn't even really appear ruffled in that interview. There is no suggestion at all that he's weary with it all or carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders as you might expect from someone who is keeping on because he's just "doing the right thing". Maybe I'm totally wrong but that's how it looks to me.

To be fair, its speculation and rumours building and building with no evidence what so ever.

Based on actual statements from the club -

Wyness resigned, he wasnt sacked. No press confrence, no actual reason given. Allegedly got a job in Mojorca.

If Moyes wasnt happy, why say directly after Wyness left that he was signing a contract extension when the team gets back from the states?

None of this is related to Kirkby.

There is no evidence saying Green has pulled anything. None whatsoever. Where this came from I have no idea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If the club was in a crisis of any kind, it would be on the back pages on the newspapers. They have more moles and insiders have than johnny todd on the street.
And what have we read? AJ transfer, Wyness gone, Vaughan getting sent off, transfer rumours (even a bullshit one about Baines). That's all.

People are just getting worried and frantic because we havent bought anyone and that our CEO left. There's over 2 weeks left before the start of the season and I dont know how many before the window actually closes.

Players will be bought, I have no doubt in that. Moyes is finding the right player for the right price -- it takes time.

That's exactly it and there's no reason why Mr. Ross should have to respond to just that, speculation. None at all.

If you look back at Everton's past, 95% of the speculation never came to fruition anyway.

What's the point.

I'd laugh if he replied:

"Thank you for your inquiry. At present most of what you're hearing is true.

Andy Johnson's transfer will more than likely go through at a substantially reduced price as the medical he undertook at Fulham revealed an old injury that we were not aware of. Keith Wyness resigned for a host of reasons but primarily due to the dire nature of the club's finances.

The Joao Moutinho rumors have been wildly exaggerated as we don't have anywhere near the money that's been quoted as required to prise him away from Sporting Lisbon. Everton in all likelihood not be bringing any new faces to Goodison Park this summer.

Lastly, David Moyes has given us an ultimatum to be given a 20M transfer warchest which we sadly told him we'd be unable to provide. It was upon learning this that Mr. Moyes informed us that he will not be signing a new contract to manage Everton Football Club.

Thank you for your questions regarding Everton Football Club and please be sure to renew your season ticket before our first home match against Blackburn Rovers."

Say you get a reply like that. My one question is "What the hell can anyone do about it?"

Nothing. Not one thing.

My advice to those of you who are having a particularly hard time dealing with the inactivity this summer would be to turn off your TV and disconnect your internet until the transfer deadline is over.

You're killing me here you negative nancys.

Actually I think an appropriate response would have been:

1) We are not aware of any problems regarding Andy Johnson's medical at Fulham. We are awaiting finalisation on the deal, but that is in Fulham's hands. We will update you once the deal is complete. Fulham would not pick up any injuries our medical experts wouldn't have. We carry out stringent tests on all players prior to signing them

2) At the moment Bill Kenwright is overseeing all matters previously dealt with by our former CEO, we do not envisage any impact on possible transfers during this period of transition.

3) The comments attributed to myself in the Portuguese press are inaccurate, we would not stipulate an absolute maximum bid with regards the transfer of a player as this would be detrimental to the negotiation process. However we do feel Sporting's value and terms of payement to be unrealistic and negotiations are still ongoing.

4) We understand that the press in England can sometimes sensationalise comments made by players and managers, and were interested to see the comments you quoted. We are not aware of any '2nd interview' given by our manager. I do not feel it appropriate to comment on any enquiries we may or may not make to the paper in question.

Rest assured we are doing everything in our power to ensure the excellent work of our manager over the last few seasons is built on, and we wish you an enjoyable season ahead.

Kind Regards
Ian Ross

See it wouldn't have been that hard now would it?!

I dont feel my questions were of a negative nature, just looking for some updates on whats going on.

Actually reading that back I think I should apply for Mr Ross' job :P

Not to imply your questions were negative Andy but more or less I'm asking the supporters to GET A GRIP and have a word with themselves.

This is easily the largest overreaction I've seen in my time of being an Everton supporter.

Fair enough TX can't disagree with you there. I think its mainly cause we've been expecting transfers to happen (probably unrealistically) since June, and as each week passes people get more and more jumpy and frustrated. Then every week more negative rumours come out to add to that. I think its just a snowball effect. I think if we'd just signed one player by now it would have lifted the tension a bit.

Oh well its making it an interesting summer even if it is for all the wrong reasons lol!

That's a perfect illustration.

Why just the other day, I was...

*avalanche hits TX Bill

Yes and it was moyesie himself who said he wanted to get into the transfer activity quickly. Its always possible of course that he's known from the start he'd do most of his business in August, once most of the others have done their meaningful spending.
