Very difficult to spin this as anything other than greed ahead of ambition.

It's always greed for anyone to go there.

I just think it'd be a bit OTT to crucify him without knowing what was on the table for him. I doubt we were ever serious about him and I only heard him linked with Inter which was never a goer either.
