Violence at the games

Just been talking to a Welsh mate who has just come back from France. He was travelling with a few English fans who had been in Marsaille. He said the atmosphere before the Russian game was very good and the Russian and England fans were together going up to the ground. They were peed off with the media for not showing this. Also the police presence in and around Marsaille was minimal -or they just couldnt see them- and there was no segregation around the city.

Pictures of England and Wales fans squaring off in Lille.... For a game of football. Funny how the lack of Russians means a lack of violence.

That's bordering on state-sponsored and endorsed violence in an attempt to project Russian power and ideology onto the Western Europeans.

Another facet of their international policy. To be fair, sounds perfectly like something Putin and his ex-KGB cronies would be happy to support.

I was suggesting this in some of my posts a few days ago but none of you picked up on it.

Ask yourself this: how come none of the Russian ultras took the opportunity to attack English fans in Ukraine during Euro 2012? Not one incident took place, despite us playing twice in Donetsk which is so close to the Russian border it was practically a ho e game for them. Border checks on trains etc were minimal for Ukrainians/Russians until the Crkmea and Donbas invasions, so they had ample opportunity.

Fast forward 4 years and you have the global agenda by Putin rolling ever forward - all predicated on Russia's 'strength' and intending to strike fear into all others.

And now we see them trying to fight English fans at every opportunity - when we've been at the forefront of assisting Ukrainian forces and their government (amongst other strands the Russians will cry foul over).

This is all part of Putin's long-term strategy. Don't be surprised if more is revealed.

I picked up on it....

They can't even afford a half decent pair of shorts, does anyone actually believe they paid for their own flights from Russia to the south of France?
I do

Russia is a very rich country in certain sectors, so people do have the disposable income available

I work with a fair amount of Russians and have visited Kazan, which in fairness is a very smart little city
I asked about going to a game, and was told in no uncertain term - No. They felt they couldn't ensure my safety, which I thought was caring of them. I did think of just going on my own this evening, but thought better of it..

Make no bones Russia is not the same country as 30 years ago, it has prosperous working sectors and certain groups of people are realitvly well off but it is corrupt to the core. The people in the main are nice people but you can never get away from the hardness and the steeliness that is in them.
On a lighter note the fellas I worked with went to a Comedy Club one night....now that must of been something different.
