The only tool that is effective is the goal line technology. But note, that is totally electronic without any human judgement.

VAR relies on subjective human choices, there will be mistakes, bias and inconsistency. It does not clear a cloudy situation, it just adds more problems than it solves.

It is being used the wrong way.
The game is just been re reffed when one bad ref is enough lol

The tech isn't good enough for the tasks they are setting it though. Although that could be argued that is down to poor human decision making also

near enough, a player can move 0.14m in a single frame of footage, however in an offside decision, you may have a player moving in the opposite direction, maybe not as fast as they are just setting off so lets say 0.07m, so the total displacement between the two players os likely to be 20cm in a single frame, so if the TV/VAR people want to choose a frame to suit their narrative/paymasters, they don't have to look very far at 20cm/f, and then they draw lines (that are effectively about 10cm wide on the pitch surface) on the screen in an arbitrary way to 'prove' their point. If it wasn't for the motorbike racing also being on sky/BT/Eurpsprt I'd be binning it off.

The VAR cameras don't need to be the same cameras as the broadcast cameras though. We've seen that the cameras aren't the same today, seeing as the VAR didn't have the angle from behind showing Alli's blatant handball.

Offside shouldnt be subjective either. By all means, offside (I know) and goal line technology is black and white. Everything else is subjective and should be,solely, down to the ref, if he needs a 2nd look, he has the means to do so. When it was trialled in the FA Cup couple years back, they were using the monitors.

Fair enough, good info their mate. I would also take issue with the ruling of shoulders etc being offside, foot planted should be the cut off snd not goals ruled out by semantics rather than good defending

It won’t improve significantly until the action being reviewed is shown on the big screen like rugby.
Unfortunately the the two clubs that don’t have screens, RS and Man U have no plans to install them so it won’t happen.
