It sounds really obvious and stupid but hear me out. Before VAR we moaned about a dodgy refereeing decision. Now we just moan about VAR. it’s changed nothing it’s just changed who we place the blame on.

Generally because VAR is their to correct dodgy refereeing.

It's still the ref's fault. Everyone is confused about this Villa goal, they have no idea what decision the ref has even made, VAR is there to help. But he decides he doesn't need to the help. How can he decide that? When nobody else knows what he's decided he thinks he can make the right call.

Even if you're talking about the leicester decision, it's there to help, not to make the decision. It's still going to be a game about opinions, but regardless of all the help from VAR the officials have the opinion that literally nobody else agrees with, then that's on them. Nobody can blame VAR for the two horrific decisions, it's all on the officials, VAR is supposed to help them make the correct decision. Both of those decisions today are easy to make, nobody actually agrees with the outcomes.

The beautiful game has become the beautiful shame, nobody has any resemblance of control of the sport anymore, every week it's just a pick n' mix of decisions that vary massively from game to game. I've said it for years, it's all because there's not enough laws and too much open interpretations for everything that happens and until you have most of those things as a concrete law, everyone is just going to moan.

I agree, its way too much down to the discretion of the incompetent officials we all thought VAR was going to help.

Was watching the West Ham v Norwich game live on TV earlier, West Ham should have had the most blatant penalty ever for a foul on Haller. Ref waved it away. Within seconds we were watching a replay of it. Why VAR didn't intervene I'll never know. It was a blatant example of a "clear and obvious error" you could ask for. West Ham were 2 up and there was only 5 mins to go, so it didnt really affect anything, but it's these sort of things that lead me to believe that VAR is absolute crap.

I think we are now in a no-win situation with VAR.
If it's used and is thought to be incorrect, then there's a massive debate about it.
If it's NOT used when we think it could have helped, then there's a massive debate about it.
VAR really is taking the shine off what is essentially a great game.
Refs have got things wrong since the first ball was kicked in league football in 1888. Why on earth we need to interfere so much nowadays is beyond me.
This is strangling our game and is not improving things when looking at the big picture.
Bin VAR right now please. No amending or improving or evaluating; just stop now.

Football used to be a great game, it isn't anymore. Every sport is going to have officials making mistakes, football is wrong in that it highlights it more. Got to be honest, football wouldn't need VAR if something properly was done with the players. They're openly encouraged to cheat and they make officials jobs do hard as a consequence. Its not a sport, its a business.
