FFS...can we not, as civilised human beings, trust a man/woman who has trained for years to get to the position they're in to carry out their job correctly and allow them the odd wee mistake without moaning like a bunch of feckin' bed wettin' millennials who'd rather settle for a 0-0 vs Stoke (or some other such gash) than see a debatable 1-0 or 0-1 - referee mistakes can work in your favour as well as against lest us not forget?

Sit two people down in front of a dodgy penalty decision and you'll very likely get two different opinions anyway so how can you trust VAR when it's still down to one person's assessment?

It's the death of football, so it is. I'm glad I'm old school and not part of this moaning, whinging, sore-loser, society that's creeping into almost everything these days.

It's a game ffs. Entertainment. Let's not tear the soul out of it and let's not start pretending it's more important that nurses, surgeons, emergency service personnel etc. Jeezus.

(had to get that off my chest)

After the Mendes goal against United, the game has been crying out for this for years.

How many derbies wouldn't have gone against us with a video ref to give the correct decision rather than the crap bias ref?

Imagine Villareal if we'd had VAR?

Or the semi final against City?

It's a good thing because nailed on stuff like that will get spotted

You can't dispute that Sterling took the ball out and VAR will show that

Yeah, penalties might be a tad more difficult, but cut and dry stuff will get noticed and that's something we should all embrace IMO

Playing them off the park and beating them, beyond doubt, would be my preference.

And 8 years later (or 19 at anfield) says enough freekicks moved, studs up yellows , penalty decisions, wrongful reds etc means we may (and have ) in the past but something has always gone against us.

As stated in another thread I an fully in favour of this innovation.

Used correctly this will improve the game immensely as the players can no longer rely on unsportsmanlike play to gain an advantage. As it will be spotted.

A big issue with VAR like last night is they stopped the game to carry out a review, but weren't able to/didn't stop the game clock... they rely on a fourth official arbitrarily 'adding on' added time - barking in my opinion.

If you're gonna stop the game, you have to stop the clock.

I don't like it one bit, there's nothing wrong with footy as it is, you win some you lose some, decisions that is.

In fact I'd do away with referees altogether, and when there's a disputed decision the players or the crowd can just have a straightner to decide the decision.
