Andy van der Meyde has revealed he will ask for a transfer from Everton if he continues not to be selected when he's actually sober.

Since joining from Inter Milan 18 months ago, the former Holland international has made just 12 Premiership starts for Everton having been plagued by injury problems and hangovers.

van der Meyde: "If the situation remains this way I will have a big problem,"

"I am in shape but spending my time on the bench or in the stands. I didn't come to England for this.

"If things don't improve I will ask the club to let me go.

"A couple of months ago I even considered giving up my contract. I thought enough is enough. I have been through a horrible time over here."

Other than getting his dog robbed, surely he can only blame himself?

Hes a very good player, i was suprised when Moyes dragged him off yesterday, he didnt look very happy.

If he wants to go then he can go, but if he wants to offer us something more then im happy for him to stay.

He needs to change his ways.

I think his leaving would be the best for all parties, the fact that he has not played many games is srely down to him for the most part and not Moyes. He is not happy, got news for him there are a hell of a lot of supporters who are not happy.

From Skysports:

Andy van der Meyde has revealed he will ask to leave Everton if he continues to be overlooked for selection.

The Dutchman has made just 19 appearances since joining from Internazionale in August 2005.

He has suffered injury problems but is now fit and raring to go, and frustrated at his lack of opportunities.

"If the situation remains this way I will have a big problem," he conceded.

"I am in shape but spending my time on the bench or in the stands. I didn't come to England for this.

"If things don't improve I will ask the club to let me go.

"Where? That's difficult but my heart is in Italy."

Van der Meyde's wife and family returned to Italy after failing to settle in England and the midfielder admits it is distressing to be apart.

He explained: "It is horrible that we are not living together. If I'm not playing it affects me badly, it does make me feel sick.

"A couple of months ago I even considered giving up my contract. I thought enough is enough.

"I have been through a horrible time over here."

If you remember when his drink was 'spiked' he was out with his 'partner'. Hmm, makes you wonder eh.

Based on this, he is gone.

What a crying shame. So the dutch alchie has decided it's time to leave? not until we're good and ready you prick, would be my response. I don't think I'd be able to summon the nerve to complain about not getting a game if I was a talentless, lazy, alchoholic scrounger. Don't buy his whining, remember he's robbed our club of £27,000 a week for far, far too long, and let's face it he ain't worth it. Get Vdm, Beattie and Pistone off the books and I think that's all our [Poor language removed] players gone.

i thought he picked up a knock yesterday.

nace and faddy are on the list with stones and wright.

If VDM wants to start games and actually earn his corn, then it is up to him to force his way into the starting eleven, he only has to displace ossie, its not like hes up against arteta. If he wants the rewards then he has to knuckle down and consistantly put peerformances of note in, instead of whining in the press and hinting about a move back to italy.

Quite simply, if he is missing his family (which is understandable) then why move from italy in the first place? bit of common sense needed andy lad.

that's a bit harsh. the guy's house has been broken into twice! took his dog (i'm not a pet person, but i can imagine when you live alone they are company) and [Poor language removed] around with his ferrari. if some scallys took my ferrari to a car park and burnt out the engine i would be very pissed. he does not have the support of a family or friend network in liverpool. to be honest, he is a good player, but sometimes it just does not work. if he goes, good luck to him.

I say we give him another 13 games to impress.

If we're honest, he hasn't had a good run of games in the first team for a variety of reasons.

Doesn't ever try to impress anyone. he's last in at training, and first home. Not the sort of attitude for someone hoping to force his way into the managers plans.
