van Buyten?

I notice that the BBC is claiming we're interested in signing van Buyten on a loan... does anyone know if there is any truth in that? Do you think he'd be a worthwhile addition to the squad, or are there more pressing needs?

The BBC are not claiming anything mate, they are just reporting what the Sunday Mirror are claiming. If the BBC were actually claiming it well then I would say that rumour had integrity.

The fact that its the Sunday Mirror who are saying it just says that it speculation as always.

Fair call, I just hadn't heard that name linked to us before.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if there's any truth whatsoever to the rumour (that they may have just started to fill a word quota or something).

Heard the rumour last season and about a week ago too.

I think its, well I know not thing - this is lazy journalism. Everyone knows that Moyes likes to bring in loan players first and then sign them up. He knows we are have lost Yobo to the ANC, so they have concocted a story based on speculation and how Moyes operates.

I honestly believe journalists would be better off writing for Roy of The Rovers.

Isn't there a rule still around that states a club can only have three players on loan at one time?

In that case we are all full up with Gravesen, Pienaar and Fernandes.

Unless we buy Van Buyten.

What happened to the Simic rumours as well.

They're going after the wrong guy.

Need to get Demichelis. Or course that one wouldn't be on loan and cost somewhere around 8-10M.

I can't be sure, but isn't it 3 domestic loans? I don't know, the rules get changed that often that I have no idea what the current stance is...
but as has already been pointed out, [Poor language removed] Tommy off back to Glasgey Celtack and we'll be laughin' to get Van Buyten in.

I think he's a good defender myself, the right sort of age for what we need, and solid in the air, in both boxes, could chip in with a few goals.

Having said that, this rumour has been completley forumulated by his agent. When he said he hadn't talked to Moyes about it, HE was the one who said it, and now, apparently all these teams are after him but again, HE'S the only on who's said it. I'm sceptical.
