Player Valuation: £35m
Now that the papers are selling all our best players to every Tom, dick and Harry, I think before the fans start putting figures on who is worth what?

Everyone will need to realise that with the new tv money coming into the game clubs will not want to sell or need to sell their best assets, so with this in mind it will be very difficult for clubs to buy players.

Example we sell Lukaku £56 mil

When we go to buy someone the price has already gone up, every player will be worth more now the new money comes in, gone of the days of buying your £5 & £6 mil players

£15 to £20 will become the norm

Thank you for stating the obvious, but:

What is your point?

How do you value Lukaku at £56 mill?

Aren't £15-20 mill players that are any good already the norm?

John Stones in the top ten defenders in the World on transfermrkt. At training I'd be like

latest

Stones is worth more because of his age. You aren't buying a defender there, you are buying a player for 10 years + so commands a higher fee, plus the fact he is english counts for a lot as well.

Lukaku value goes up because of his goals. The more he scores the more he is worth, because he becomes proven in that sense. Teams want proven strikers, and more so ones that will bag 20+ goals at the same time. So when/if we sell Rom, it will be for the goals we would be losing potentially, which again allows us to hold the cards and ask for more money. the buying club therefore have a gamble because either they pay our asking price, wait for the price to drop for whatever reason, or risk having to pay more in the future for him.

Ross is worth a little less than stones because he can be inconsistent, so the buying club would be buying potential and ability but not necesserily form over a full season. So perhaps 35 million or thereabouts, but then the fact Ross is probably our least likeley sold player in the squad now which will deter interest somewhat, and any interest in him would then have to be a premium to prize away the unbuyable player.

Disagree about Ross. His stats are up there with the best midfielders in the league, which is incredible considering his age. Of course there are things he can improve but i don't think any team in the league would turn him down. With his age and the fact that he's English I think his value wouldn't be much under £50m. It sounds like a lot but money has gone crazy in football.

it would take that much to sell him at least yeah i agree. He just plays the one position on the pitch that requires a perfect game so to speak, the striker either scores or doesn't, the defender can learn at a young age. First team midfielder for a team above us in quality requires them to be consistent and Ross isn't right now learning his trade. BUT, he is the last player to be sold here now unless he demands a move, 2 years ago i would have said we were selling him this summer after the euros and a star turn there, but with stones and rom gaining interest, Ross won't leave.

....the value of a player is the amount somebody is prepared to pay. It's then up to the selling club to determine if that is enough.

Exactly...sometimes they get it right ALA Kompany, Aguero and Silva , sometimes spectacularly wrong! ALA Mangala, Sterling and Bony!...I'm using City as an obvious example as you can see ;)

I'll take three Osman's and Clenevilley, please

Ignore the playing side:

How much does it benefit us as a club to have Stones and Barkley as 1st choices for England? Massive global exposure in 2 key positions. Also other players will want to play for us in the same team as them.

Lukaku and Deulofeu are both potentially world class players and again potential exposure is enormous.

Man City and the like will know this and their values shouldnt just be based on the playing side.

In terms of selling value now we have Moshiri:

Lukaku £80mil
Stones £80mil
Barkley £80mil
Deulofeu £80mil

We have no need to sell any of them and as such can charge what we like.

To be perfectly honest, if things come together next season as i expect and hope id like to see us going after players of similar age and ability for £30-40mil each.

If we can sign 4 players this summer to complete the squad then we will only be in the market for the very best players around in that bracket.
