Not true. We were going absolutely nowhere under Kenwright. He got lucky that Moyes could perform miracles but frankly the only thing that kept us up under Martinez was having one of the best strikers in Europe in the team. The squad was complete and utter trash by the time Martinez finished with it and the only money we had available was from player sales. We were buying the likes of Mcgeady and Cleverley.
Now even after we blew a load of money on rubbish players, we still had 40 mill to drop on Richarlison, we’ve had money to pay off poor managers and entice new ones, and we’re finally starting to see players increase in value.
We’re in a position now where we can back a top manager with money without having to sell all our best players. We’ve never been in that position before in our prem history. Plus we have a new stadium on the way. All within 4 years after Kenwright spent 20 not getting close. No progress at all though.
