All of these things are connected only in the minds of those who are staring themselves to make the connection.

What would Usmanov get out of a dockland development that's going to take (best case scenario) a decade to bear fruit? He's more of a quick investment into social media/energy company - share price rockets he gets out with a hundred million dollars. I doubt the model is up his street, tbh.

I don't know - but I'd like to trust the idea that successful billionaires know what they're doing - generating retail, hotel and grad A office space could sky rocket the regional value.

Personally - I also think Usmanov wants to run a successful football club, and would most likely wish to repair his ego after failing to get control due to Kroenke.

Legacy, vanity, oneupmanship? Doubt the actual money element is of much concern.
Maybe he's down to his last 15 billion...

I dunno Dave, what did he get from investing 80m into Arsenal 11 years ago?

Or from "starting" USM Holdings 40 years ago?

I will give you a clue, it rhymes with "Bots of Funny".
He had to pay Moshiri about £200M so the rate of profit is not as much as you;d expect over the course of 11 years. As for USM: I did say this was an area he invests in. Basically he "invested' there because it was shooting fish in a barrel.

Even if it were the case he wanted in on Liverpool Waters, I cant imagine the Whittakers - who play an extremely long game - wanting anything to do with a character like Usmanov.

Yeah, he must be utterly steaming that he only made 300m on his Arsenal shares, bad investment there for sure.

I'm far too simple for all this mad banter.

If you don't like Esk then ignore him. If you don't like Myers, ignore him. If you don't want to engage in fanciful tripe, ignore Davek.

Why cast stones at each other about different people's opinion.

This place is crazy at times.
"Fanciful tripe" .........some of his Martinez views certainly are, but his political integrity is not in doubt.....

It's all speculation but there's no evidence that Usmanov is a short -termer, he held his Arse shares for a number of years and was trying to buy Kroenke out. Most news reports suggest that he will buy another club here or abroad and if you want to be where the money is then the PL is the only option. On that basis EFC would seem a reasonable shout for a betting man, but that's all at this stage.

He made a billion quid from a £200M investment in Facebook.

No headaches of planning permission, relying on flakey local politicians, dealing with a bunch of incompetent chimps at Everton.

That's his M.O.

He’s already got Everton, via Moshiri. He may just as well go and buy Newcastle as well, he’s got the cash.....
