They have, he is not as well connected as Usmanov and is also not as involved in regeneration/building works. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it would be a huge PR own goal for the government with their "northern powerhouse" if they did. Usmanov would probably create more jobs/opportunities than then entirety of the Tory government put together.

Is Usmanov involved in regeneration works?

Roman was looking to build a new stadium, that has been shelved now due to his visa issues

Yes, This is the point!....What,s the attraction in Everton?....Well They are a Founder club that since 1878 have only been outside top league Football for 5 out of 144 years. ....Around the world they are known, And I think we all forget that it's only in the past 30 years (With the formation of the Premiership!) that things haven't been too clever!

Slight correction there we've only been outside top flight 4 years!

Your a great balanced knowledgeable poster, writer, but I think you and everyone needs to calm down a bit. Remembering, we,re Everton, we know how this always plays out. Hope I’m wrong, but 53 years of experience tells me otherwise

Thanks mate and probably the last bit is me allowing myself to get carried away!

We do need to wait and see. The club hasn't always veered from tragedy to chaos though, we were once the best run and most envied club in the country.

If he were to come on board he would be a central figure in the regeneration of the area, the stadium and the subsequent growth within the city which will come from that. He may well even part fund some of it.

Abramovich stopped looking to rebuild when the cost reached 1 billion +. That part of London does not desperately need regeneration (or need it at all) and there would be little strategic advantage to the government to allow it to go forward.
