Usmanov

It doesn’t really matter much that Kroenke bought them nor does it make much difference. It’s what Usmanov hasn’t done that I notice.

He obviously isn’t out to increase his shareholding as much as people make out otherwise he’d have been picking these off surely.

He’s worth billions and is in his 60s. Not like he needs the money through his Arsenal investments, is it?

Buying football clubs is a vanity project.
Good point, but to many wealthy people the acquisition of more and yet more wealth becomes an obsession. It's similar to why the US and USSR accumulated enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world several times over.

As if once isn't enough.

But to others it’s just a vanity project, a status symbol. I really believe Usmanov and Moshri are in that bracket. They released a statement at Arsenal saying so as well.

Moshris spending levels here are frightening, I can only dream what it’ll be like if Usmanov comes on board.

Moshiri can't sustain this level of spending if he's 'only' worth £2bn. However, he is an accountant, so he's probably worth a lot more than what he's letting on. He'll know every loophole scheme in the book.

Why would he buy Everton shares, when he sit's on a gold mine, with his Arsenal shares?

Other than, he really think that the "docks", are worth more, as an investment, since he can not hold shares in bouth clubs.
Control, power ambition.

He is already wealthy beyond belief. The money he will make out of Arsenal or Everton or any other club that he might choose to buy is insignificant to him.

Being the owner of one of the most successful clubs in the world... that means something to him and he has been denied that opportunity at Arsenal. I think that being able to emulate or surpass what has been achieved at Chelsea may be a carrot also.

Is he still motivated or interested in making that happen elsewhere time will tell.

I don’t think he can achieve the levels of spending he’s already shown, and possibly committed to even, if he’s only worth 2 billion.

Let’s not beat about the bush here, he’s clearly spending someone else’s money.

Soo somewhere there is an fundamental interest about football, and not just seeing it through a buisness aspect.

If that is the case, im a bit more optimistic.

Thank you for the sum up

That's what I take from it that hasn't been mentioned much. The fact he's stopped adding to his share portfolio is interesting.

Imagine the fun and sense of pride Usmanov would have developing not just the stadium but everything else surrounding it.
Hotels,Apartments,restaurants etc.....he has a blank canvas on Liverpool’s waterfront

Imagine the opportunities and revenue if another area equivalent of L1 is developed with him owning land there, potentially charging rents etc etc.

In many ways it wouldn't matter if Usmanov stays in the background. That's a potential alternative here, that he keeps a low profile.

I do think he will emerge formally at some point though and I think you will see another qualitative jump in spending power when it does. It may well be a jump that is 2-3 times as big.
