My one experience at Goodison was back in '04.

- Flew into Gatwick
- Took cab to train station
- Took train to Liverpool (I think we had to change trains in Birmingham)
- Stayed at Adelphia Hotel which was a short walk from Lime St. Station if I recall correctly.
- Took a cab to the match that night and went early to spend time in Megastore.

The only tough part was finding a cab back to the hotel. I think we walked more than halfway before getting one. There was probably a cab stand somewhere around Goodison and we just didn't know it.

Overall, a fantastic experience. Enjoy !!!

Just got back from London/Liverpool, missed my flight back so it cost about 180 £ more than expected but hey, no need to repeat my mistakes.

We flew in to Gatwick, stayed for two nights in London before taking a mid-day train to Liverpool which was ok costwise. First train back on thursday was costly though at 5.30 am, and part reason as to why I missed my flight as it was a bit late.
We stayed at Posh Pads near Liverpool 1 (I think) which was neat and cost about as much as the room in London for 3x the size... Took a cab out to Goodison at around 6 pm, a snarky red I suppose as he really didn't seem to want to chat for the entire trip. Walked around in pooring rain, had a seat in the paddock which was great apart from us having to sit in gales and gusting weather and a 2nd half where we submitted to Bolton pressure.

We took the doubledecker back to city central for 2 quid which seemed decent as cabs seem hard to come by after the final whistle. For the bagage-train trip back to Lime Street we had a pre-booked cab at 4.30 and an off-hand comment about wednesday's result led to transfer banter and the decline of Everton lately. I even got to see his (the cabby's) Everton tattoo.

Good times, apart from the result and ****ty weather. I'm hoping to go back sometime in april/may but we'll see I guess, so make sure you savor it, it truly is a fantastic experience!

Believe it or not, I've already started doing savings to one day make a solo trip to Goodisson. It's my second year at university now and there will be no ticket prices stopping me from visiting GP. I'll try for a derby!

Just to be on the safe side you should just give your flight ticket and all other trip arrangements to me so I can make my first trip to Goodison. I'll make a full report to you on how you should go about your trip and you can make it at another point in time.

Its very easy and you will have no problem getting from London to Goodison and back in a day. There are lots of trains on a saturday morning to Liverpool the 8.10am and 8.40am are the best options that will get you in at about 11am and the last direct train back to london on a Saturday is at 7.48 pm and will get you back into london at 10.15pm .

You should contact the Everton london supporters club (ESCLA) who run trips to all the Everton games from the london area on the train as im sure they will be able to help you out booking your train and sorting match tickets and then that way you will get to travel down with a load of other Evertonians.

Enjoy your trip over COYB !!!

The best pub downtown for supporters after a game is The Lisbon, 35 Victoria Street. A lot of GOT regulars there, too.

Park End for a decent view. Gwladys street for the best atmosphere but probably crap view. Bullens is a bit mehh..especially the lower bit, sit too far back you have a letterbox view, and down at the bottom you're submitted to mother nature. Main stand has no atmosphere but a half decent view. I tried the top balcony the other day, scary as [Poor language removed] with how steep it is. Great view though. All about personal preference.

Good luck matey, hope you have a great time.

You should probably check your suitcase on your way back in case Landon tries to smuggle himself home.

You should really consider staying a nite in Liverpool after the match and experience Matthew Street on a Saturday nite! commute back to London the next day as Liverpool on a saturday is a must. The Adelphi is right opposite the station and they are doing some really good offers at the moment

If I were you I wouldn't want a suite (the expensive seats) but would go instead for lower gwladys. a lot cheaper and great atmosphere. i sit upper bullens and a good view from there but theres a chance of an obstructed view which can be a real pain.

agree with everyone here about staying over a night. i usually do to leeds and back in a day which is less than half the time it'll take you from London and thats long enough for me, especially as you'll be wanting to sight-see and get there early etc.

Hope you have a good time and atmosphere better than it is at the mo but i had the same urge as ijjy re the first post. have a good one

Trains to Liverpool run about every 1hr-2hrs from London.

My suggestion, to to britrail.com (the website is currently down so I don't know prices) and buy an all england train pass for the few days you are staying. It may seem expensive (one round trip to liverpool is sometimes $100-140 depending on when you buy so its actually cheap) but its worth it becuase you can hop on any train by just showing the pass and not having to get tickets or anything. The pass works for all the trains in england and the express shuttle to and from the airports (which is about $25 one way). It just doesn't work for the underground.
