That's mainly due to people not searching or reading the forum before starting threads. Merging keeps it tidy. Unfortunately the incorrect order of posts is just collateral.

We could put a stickied read me at the top of the forum and people still wouldn't read it.

Suggestions are always welcome.

This may be a bit of extra work for the MoDZ, but maybe there can be a closed thread with one post for each romoured player and then some essential info. Actually, that sounds a bit ridiculous, like.
