After watching Taggart smugly paraphrasing himself for the past three days it came as a sort of sweet justice to see United given a world class run around by a far superior side . A side missing its first choice back four . Tonight was a slap in the face for all those lazy scribes , you know the sort of know it alls who love to describe us as puching above our weight , there are TEAMS better than we have here you know . If after watching tonights final you dont realise this then you never will.

As most here will know I'm very fond of Barca, but I don't think you can underestimate how important the first goal by Eto'o was. Up to that point United had looked good. Chelsea showed that when teams swamp the box it's hard for Barca to break them down. Once that goal went in though Barca were exceptional and dominated the match in a way only they can.

Clive Tydsley said while Rooney was going up to collect his losers medal "He wont be in the FA cup final but his old team will"
Fantastic Clivey baby(y)

United froze tonight once Barcelona got into their stride simply because they are not used to opposing sides taking control of the ball and keeping it to themselves in a way that can only humble them . You saw how to take the piss el grande tonight out of the supposedly untouchable . Ahem........bollocks untouchable my arse . Believe it or not but what Barca did wasnt a million miles away from waht we did at OT this very season . I know Moyes was watching tonights action very closely . Checkout the United players reaction to tonights result . They had the look of a man who knows he has been rumbled by superior talent coupled with tactical know how

I agree Bruce, it could have gone either way early doors, but Barca really made the most of going ahead. I always think if a team can retain possession that well it's twice as hard to get back in the game.

I think United were a clear victim of the stupidest tactical decision I've seen for years.

Against a team having lions share of the possession, he decides that having 4 strikers and 2 midfielders = more goals.

Daft.

Bingo .............Taggart take a bow you chewing gum chopping t**t

Barcelona were superb at keeping the ball. Personally, I cant get excited about Barca's brand of football, in the same way I couldn't really be thrilled with the Spanish national team in last summer's Euros.I acknowledge it's accomplished play, and the best team won on the night, but United really didn't do themselves justice. As for United being 'rumbled': I think it's just the case that United caught a club at the top of their game in a fantastic season. United themselves have been irresistable/unplayable in Europe in their own way in the past.

I agree.

I think it would've been a different game if Hargreaves was fit and sitting in front of the defence. They needed a ball winner in the mid for this game - Giggs, Carrick and Anderson were not it.

I can't believe that an ordinary mortal such as I knows better than Mr Fergie :) yer cannot keep playin' Rooney on the wing and helping out as a defender, what a sheer waste....and Ronaldo World Player? MY AR$E.

They needed Paul Scholes more than anything, someone who has the bottle to get his foot on the ball and pull the strings. Even if it was for 60 minutes, he'd atleast bring a bit of composure to there play.

Anderson played because he's a 'runner' and with no Fletcher in there Utd needed a more mobile central midfielder. Carrick on the other hand doesn't float my boat, he's not quick enough on the ball.

Iniesta was fantastic, like a poor mans Pienaar out there. That alone is impressive.
