Who cares.. a world heritage site that nobody could visit, I never heard of UNESCO coming up with the millions needed to preserve the docks, like Everton are doing..

You could hire a world class architect and build something thats not a eye sore. I looked at the photos of the new buildings at the waterfront, i must say my grandmother would have done a better job. They probably hired somebody from IKEA. The Everton stadium is not the worst of the bunch but really is nothing to write home about. It is not good enough to have some red bricks to have really good architecture!

Well as a city we had a choice. We either have jobs and prosperity that this development will 100% bring or we can stay we are and preserve the wasteland of rotting docks for the benefit of a handful of pretentious arseholes at UNESCO who'll almost certainly never actually visit the city. The ten streets development (basically a load of entertainment, shops etc around the ground) will be a massive boost for an area which is basically derelict right now.

The only reason anybody would go down there right now is if you are going to Costco, want a decent Greek meal or enjoy dogging

UNESCO are a sham organisation now, I wouldn't worry about them. They're under Chinas CCP influence.

As an example, you may have heard that we in Oz are not in the CCP's good books, so they're coming up with ways to hurt us as best they can. UNESCO decided that we're damaging the Great Barrier Reef so they wanted to delete its listing as well. That was until someone pointed out how the Chinese have totally obliterated all the shoals & reefs in the South China Sea for Military purposes! It's all gone quiet now.
